My PC is slow. Why? Too many browser tabs open. I have about 70 as we speak. What to do, what to do?

My perception of what I need to keep open should change. But how?

Here is a list of 10 tabs I have open to give you an idea...

1. .liveperson.com affiliate program stats page - I view this like once every 10 days. So convenient to have it open.

2. Google dfp - check stats once every 5 days.

3. Active Collab - not using this much at the moment but worry about having the passwords so leave it open!

4. SERPassist forum - check it once every 3 days to see whats going down.

5. WordPress admin page for one of my sites. Intend to work on this in next few days so left open.

6. Found an interesting internet marketing subscription service so have left it open on that page so I don't forget it. Not sure what to do!

7. Interest Warrior forum post with manage pages I would like to read sometime. So left open on the page I am on.

8. Membership forum I use all the time so leave that open.

9. BHW forum thread, where I just ordered a service.

10. 2 hr training video ready for me to watch. If I get time.

Ok, so you get the idea. I am interested in how you would interpret the 1-10 yourself. Each is different, so how do you think about each individual one? Or are you thinking like I do and have the same problem?

Thanks,

Jon

I would make a special bookmark folder for the sites you visit every few days. No reason to have them open in a tab. As for sites you intend to read at some point I would highly recommend Instapaper.

I personally only keep 1-3 windows open usually at any given time.

Any potentially important pages are bookmarked, if I forget about them then it probably wasn't that important in the first place.

My personal belief is, if something is actually important/relevant you will remember it.

  • I also keep dozens of windows and programs open at times, but it's important to close them out and keep focused on the task at hand.

This sounds like TLC's "Hoarding: Buried Alive" program... except with browser windows.

As mentioned above by a few folks, try using bookmarks instead. If you're not going to view a site this hour, then just tuck it away in a bookmark. Keep your bookmarks organized and you'll have a system that works better than your current one.

OMG ... close everything. Reboot your computer. Open only what you are doing at the moment. You will feel free. Now I've read everything.

If you come across something that you want to read, read it and move on. If there is other info, links, etc that you want to follow up on, do so, take whatever notes you may want, bookmark it, and move on.

    If you are working, work.
    If you are browsing, browse.

If you miss reading something, so what? Did reading it make you any money? Then why did you sacrifice work time to read it?
