    Very nice. Thanks for sharing.

The article should give people several places to look at when wondering what to test to increase conversions.

As the article points out, you need both traffic and conversions to make money.

It reminds me of a day spent playing golf with an elderly man for high stakes (match play for two bits a hole and the first round after we finished )...

On one hole, I needed to make a long, snaky putt to tie the hole. I hit the ball, and it curved this way and that, heading for the cup...and stopped about six inches short. As I tapped the ball that last six inches to lose the hole, I said "at least I had the line right." He answered, "Yup you sure did. And that's half the game, isn't it?"

By the way, I bought the first round. Never play golf for money with a stranger the greens keepers know by name...

  • There is one thing I just don't believe from that article: they say that switching the "Sign Up" button from green color to red color increased conversions by a 34%.

I just cannot believe that a whole extra third of the traffic would decide to sign up just because the color of the "Sign Up" button. I've tested small details like that extensively in my websites, and they HARDLY improve conversions by a few points... in no way by a whole 34% of the traffic.

I found that interesting as well. I guess the only way is to test it, but like he said each has to do there own testing as what works for one, does not always for another (that works in a lot of areas of online business).

Increasing conversion by 34% doesn't mean an additional 34% of total traffic signed up. It means that if 10% signed up before the changes, 13.4% sign up using the changed version.

Yeah, a lot of people don't realize that. They think that if 100 people visit their site, 34% increase means that they converted 34 people. Thanks for clarifying.
