I found a good niche however there are about three other websites competing with me. All of the sites including mine are making money from the amazon affiliate program.

Will I be able to compete? The other websites don't have any sort of review at all. They just use the amazon description. My site will stand out right?

Also I am currently doing this on a free blogger blog. Will I be able to transfer everything on the blog to another website in the future when I buy a domain name? Will I be able to transfer the free template as well or is that restricted to blogger?

  • Only way to find out is to load it up and pull the trigger. Check how strong your competition for your keywords, make your site better than the others and lock and load. If you are already making money from it, then your already competing (unless I read what you wrote wrong).

    Test, track and make adjustments, but I would definitely move it to something you own. Especially if you are making money from it already. Not saying anything would happen, but it would suck if it did.

    Sounds like it, unless those few other sites are high-PR and/or have huge numbers of backlinks, or something? But that doesn't seem too likely, from what you're saying? (Easy enough to find out, anyway).

    Yes, with some inconvenience and/or expense. What about buying a $1 .info domain-name now, though? And maybe even using some reliable free hosting for it, if necessary, with a free Wordpress blog instead? Might be less worrying?

    As of April 2010, Blogger no longer supports FTP, and there's no such thing as "self-hosted Blogger" any more. (Which is really bad news). So I suspect not.
  • Action is better than inaction - best thing I've learned from WF and other IM guides. Just go ahead and try it, 3 competitors isn't too bad at all.
  • I'd say go for it! If you say that there are 3 competitors then the worst you could possible do (as humans we always look for ways to fail) would be ranking 4th in the SERPS.
