What are your limiting beliefs?

Hi, everyone. I realise that I've been a bit paralysed by a self-imposed kind of, "I can't make $50,000 a month online" thought.

People who know me well talk along the lines, "What do you mean? Of course you can etc etc."

It's a kind of sabotaging, limiting belief.

What do other people have? (If they do??)

Best - James

My goal is to reach $1,000,000 a year. It will take some time, but it never limits me because I'm one of these people that says something and works hard to do it.

I guess it's about your mindset.

I grew up poor. So I really think that aids to my drive and determination to get a job done and do it well.

Clearly all psychological. There really is not a limit. You could always hire more people, build your business bigger, etc. I always find when reaching a wall or road block there is some internal obstacle. Perhaps I don't believe in myself. Or perhaps my goal isn't possible without changing the way I do things.

I say, step back, think outside the box, ask yourself, "what's holding me back?" and then adjust your thinking and/or actions accordingly to overcome the barrier.

I can't speak from the internet marketing point of view as I'm just a beginner. But I am very successful in other areas of my life and this is my philosophy. You can do anything you put your mind to!

I started grade school with an exceptional writing level, and knowing advanced math. Because of this, other students treated my as the outcast. I slowly grew a fear of people reading what I wrote, due to being put down so much in my younger years. I get around this by writing under a nom de plume, which tricks my brain into thinking that someone else wrote it, and I am just the one putting the information out there for others to see.
So for the people out there that have found their weakness, there are ways to trick yourself so that you can push beyond your fears. Of course, I have yet to be successful with my phobia of needles at the doctors office... So this tactic of fooling yourself might be situational.

Most people limit their beliefs in one way or another. I believe you can make money fast if you have money. Someone else may believe that man can fly if he tries to open his mind. If I won't try to attempt it they may say my thought process is limited. It is all depends on the individual.

    What are your limiting beliefs?
The amount of free time to work on my sites, and video blogs. Between my full time job, spending time with my family, taking care of stuff around the house,,,,, free time is in short supply.

I really don't have any. But I also don't have a lot of goals anymore. I know
I can do just about anything I put my mind to.

These days, I prefer putting it towards enjoying the time I have left on this
planet and not slaving away at a business.

A lot has changed in 7 plus years of IM for me.

  • The key with eliminating a negative belief is to recognize it for what it is, a thing of the past. It was created by your past conditioning. Therefore, it does not have to be in your life forever - you can eliminate it, if you choose to do so.
There is one technique used to eliminate negative beliefs, which is called the EFT, or Emotional Freedom Technique. As you can infer from its name, this technique aims to free you of any emotional limitations, and this is exactly what a limiting belief is, an emotional limitation.
The Emotional Freedom Technique employs tapping on several key body points. Through tapping on these points and reciting the negative belief and describing it in lengths, you become comfortable with this belief. Most importantly, you start accepting it as a thing of the past, as something that is not you. Therefore, you are preparing yourself to let go of this belief, which is done in a subsequent stage.
In the last stage, you ingrain a new and empowering belief in your mind. This belief completely replaces your limiting belief and gives you a greater degree of freedom in what to do in your life. And most importantly, it allows you to go for your dream.

Half the battle with making a success of your own venture is getting out of the "glass ceiling" thinking that is often brought about by years of selling your time for money when you work for someone else.

That doesn't mean you need to think "cool, I can earn $1,000,000 per month" because that's probably not realistic, at least not in the short term.

And there are physical restraints, such as the amount of time you can sell, so if you can come up with a business model that has no physical restraints, you really have got rid of the glass ceiling.

    Digital products anyone?

    Cheers,
