Keeping Start UP Marketing Simple

Anybody who has tried to earn an income online has found out very quickly that it is easy to get overwhelmed! With so many promises and guarantees coming from multiple directions, it's hard to know what avenues to take.

First of all, don't pay anybody anything until you've done your own research and acquired education.

Before you pay somebody $100.00 to give you a ton of vague and <generally useless> information, see if you can't invest that money in multiple streams of income for yourself...Better yet, see if you can save it or only spend half (or less).

There are tons of free marketing websites available and even more tools of which you are able to take advantage all by yourself.

What causes most new entrepreneurs to fail is not their lack of drive or motivation...It's generally the fact that they skip all the important ground work and try to start 'generating overnight wealth.'

They buy into a promise and realize they were lied to.

Instead of staying stuck in that trap, stop signing up for opportunities until you...

A. Are fully aware of their details and REAL potential

B. Know how to profitably market them.

Inernet flash videos that promise you a 'secret formula' are taking advantage of the fact that you don't know that inernet marketing takes work and dedication.

Stop paying for pie in the sky promises and start learning how to build your e-commerce from the ground up.

free doesnt have a cost. your statement is a fallacy. starting out, id rather spend time to learn the basics than go out and blow all my money.

        Everything has a cost.

The cost of a thing is what you give up to get it.

Kind of like how using the name "mudbutt" on a business forum has a cost.

I like your answer. I think that you could go through blog posts and find all the free information for sure. But it's going to take a long time and you're not going to remember everything. That's why its better to just get something that's packed with good information and learn it.

I have to agree with InternetMarketingIQ... the opportunity costs of your time is a really expensive cost, and should not be discounted -- depending upon one's stage of development as an Internet marketer

I think many of the people who work online all seem to start out from the same place: "I'm not making any money right now/whatever money I'm making right now is peanuts compared to what I will be making... so let me write off my own time as if it is valueless, and go chase after that big whale!"

that just perpetuates the fallacy that your time is valueless, so go ahead and throw it all into trying to get the latest idea of running.... in my humble opinion, I see that as a pretty self-fulfilling prophecy.

Not if it starts out as a hobby and then blooms into something else...:p

Boy do I know how all of you feel... I been there more times then I'd like to admit. In my humble opinion, I think the answer is always in front of us. Yes, you can look for free answers, but it does take time. And yes, being trapped in the promise to make it big money-circus sucks as well.

There is a middle ground that most of us just won't do. That is find someone you trust, and believe in. Someone who you know is doing what we want to be doing. And, just have the patience and stick-to-it-ness, just focus on one thing, and one course or technique.

And "Do It" until it works. I know, I know. It just doesn't happen fast enough, and you'll run into roadblocks that were not mentioned, and there are some many magic bullets being shot at you through email. We just have to put up the shield of FOCUS, FAITH, AND PERSISTENCE, and PERSEVERANCE.

I've made a little money with this simple mindset - and every time that I have stepped away from it; (I've seen my Paypal account down instead of up.)

It is true that one should first find the necessary information before making an investment. It is also true that everything has a cost. Whatever cost whether in the form of money or time, it is worth it if it will yield the desired results. Do whatever it takes to get the right information as long as it will help you meet your main goal i.e. making money. Of course this takes time, patience, smart work, and consistence.
