hello, everyone

just wondering what your opinion is on monetization,

i've got a site that brings in some adsense $$ but i really think it might do better with amazon.

would you advise i try both?

i don't know why but i always thought not to mix them.

what are your experiences?

thanks,
kelly

I think you can definitely mix them together. Test it and see how does it goes. Sometimes you'll find that you make even more with both. This is not squeeze page so it's rather different techniques involved.

I would definately mix them. I used to only advertise one or two products on a page and now I promote several products on my websites. Even the websites I have with my own products I also have affiliate programs advertised on them. What one person wants is not what the next will want and I find that by promoting several products through different affiliate programs I actually make more money than when I just promoted 1 or 2 products on a page. Of course the key is to not overdo it with too much advertising as this can also scare off your visitors as they can feel as though you have nothing to offer them and are just trying to sell them something.

The answer is to TEST. You will only know what works best for your site by testing the different combinations.

Depends on the niche and how your traffic is finding you (what search terms they're using). I run Adsense and Amazon links together on the majority of my 150 or so sites, and it works best. I've tested this extensively. But again, that's for what I do and what you do might be different enough that my outcome would not be yours. So yes, you can't get around testing this if you want to be assured of maximum results.

Amazon and adsense work well together.

adsense - gives you random ads based off the keywords google finds on your site.

amazon - you can target an exact keyword and product.

Personally, I run adsense at the top of the site and in the sidebar. Then I put amazon banners in the article and at the bottom of the article.

Depending on your niche, some products are a natural seller. Amazon allows you to find out what sells the best, by giving you detailed reports, and then you target those products.

    Hi,

Let's say your adsense CTR is 10% (10 out of 100 click on adsense) then don't watse the remaining 90 visitors. Send them to amazon through your affiliate links. Text links within your articles work best and people like to click on them too. If your content is product based send them to search results and if it is problem/solution bases you can send them to just one product at amazon or even a clickbank product. Amazon converts really well.

Yep - I agree with the rest - 'throw the Amazon products on there!

Of course, you might want to test which brings more money - just adsense (you already know how much this is), adsense + amazon, and just amazon.

I'm actually testing this now on a few blogs. I usually keep it one or the other..so I don't give the visitor too many options.
