Commenting on Articles

If I'm posting this in the wrong forum, please kindly direct me to the right forum.

I recently wrote an article on my blog and allowed commenting. Recently, I have seen several comments but they don't say anything -- they just show my article and are giving me the credit for the article (except for taking out my affiliate link, which I can understand.

But what is their purpose. This particular site that did this only has two links linking back to them according to Alexa, and they are in India.

I run a WordPress blog. Should I approve the comment or mark it as spam and delete it? I don't want to take unnecessary chances of having some horrible worm take up residence on my blog (causing me to have to start all over). Can someone please give me some direction here?

    Sounds like trackbacks as opposed to actual comments.

    When you visit the sites linking to you, are they copying your article or just linking to you?

    As Dan says, you seem to be describing "trackbacks", not "comments". Does what they've said on your blog add value to your blog?

    Their own off-page SEO, by the sound of it.

    Personally, I'd delete them. (But personally I don't allow "comments" on my blogs, anyway, so I'm probably biased.)

      It's a way for one site (usually a blog) to notify another that it's backlinking to one of its entries (and typically an excerpt with a link to the linking blog appears on the referenced blog). I think it's what you're describing, above. It's someone else trying to use your blog toward their own off-page SEO, in short. If what they've said/done doesn't add real value to your blog, I'd just delete them.

    If I were you I would delete them. I've had the same thing happen to me on my blog. Just some random SEO tactics used on your blog.
