Need some help with optin in wordpress post.

Hi Fellow Warrirors,

I am pulling my hair out trying to find this before asking for help here, as I hope it is not something simple that I just overlooked.

I am trying to use an optin template in a wordpress blog but on my post and not on the sidebar. I know it can be done, but I cannot see if it is a plugin or just a certain formatting. I have tried to use MaxBlogPress Optin Adder but when it comes to putting in my background, it is find. I am not able to arrange for the name and email fields to be put where I want them. If someone can show me how to do this, then that would be my answer. But I cannot see it myself.

Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated.

I await your help and thank you in advance...

I'm not exactly sure about your question, but if you simply want to add the opt in form, you can do that with HTML, from your Aweber code. Just select the HTML tab in WordPress post editor.

    Hope that Helps you!

    Hey Caleb,

Actually I tried that and it is not coming in like you would think, Here is the url link to the actual optin I am trying to insert into my post. If you can figure out why it will not go right, I would really like to know.

Thank you for your quick reply regarding this issue. It looks easier than it is turning out, but as I am a little out of my element with this stuff, maybe I am just doing it wrong.

    Thanks again,

Well, you should have a line of code that is for your opt-in form. Copy and paste that into the bottom of your post, but make sure the post editor is on the 'html' side and not the 'visual' side. Then resave/publish it. If you go back into the post editor on the 'visual' side later, it will mess it up again, so stay on the 'html' side.

      Hi VegasGreg,

I had put a reply in last night but apparently it did not take it. I did try what you are suggesting at the very beginning and still to no avail. I know there is a way to do it as I see it on other sites. I will have to go back to verify that they were wordpress sites. Not a problem for regular html sites but problem with wordpress in this regard. Does anyone know of maybe a plugin other than MaxBlogPress Form Adder, as I have tried this and it will only add a background. Not able to put my name and email fields in the area that I want.

Thanks for your assistance and hope you have a great day...

      Hi Istvan,

I am sorry sir, but if you could may copy it into a post as if you loo at the post that I put it in just now, it will show you how it is showing up for me and you will be able to see if/where I took the html info from. I am sorry about this, but I thought I knew html enough to pull this off. If you could do this I would really appreciate it.

You are doing something wrong. I took the code (from the first <table> down till the closing last </table>) from the source code of the HTML page you linked above... pasted it into a post and the form shows up just as it should: no styling and missing images but it is there with the fields, submit button, headlines etc.

As I said. The form is there. You have problem with the formatting!

(totally unrelated but why do you need that ".php" thing AFTER a closing slash in URL???)

In WordPress you should NEVER use a relative path for images or other elements you link to.
Because if you have in your code: img src="http://www.warriorforum.com/images/mypic.jpg etc." - that string will ALWAYS be added AFTER your full URL of the post:
    HTML Code:
    http://247affiliate.info/do-a-friend-a-favor/.php/images/mypic.jpg
Right-click on any no-show image and tell to view it - you will get a big 404:

    Does this help?

    Hi Istvan,

I don't know what to say except thank you very very much and I will be adding this particular optin to all of my pages as I am having a bitch of a time getting a list started.

I checked my permalinks and the / was an error and I have fixed that problem. Thank you for that as well.

Now I don't know if you covered this, but is there a way to avoid them being moved over to the big 404 page?

I still can't believe it and man I am grateful for your help. If there is anything I can do for you please let me know. Do know what it could be but just ask..!

    Thanks again...

      1. If you are planning to add the form to ALL your posts - I would seriously think about putting it in the template(s)! Either in the index.php, if you want it to show up on the main page AND you are using full posts there... or to the single.php to be shown only on single post view.

      2. Avoiding 404. Use full path (http://example.com/images/mypic.jpg) instead of what you have now (relative path) - or, if using it in the templates do this:
      - put the images in the wp-themes/your-theme/images/ folder
      - in the code use this line to call your images:
      PHP Code:
      img src="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/mypic.jpg"
In this way, no matter where you call the image (i.e. regardless of the page url) it will be called from the right directory! Note: this method works only if you put the code in the templates: PHP is not executed in posts!

    Hi Istvan,

That is awesome, sir. Thank you very much for all of your assistance. I think I will put it in the main page as I want this to show up in all of my posts.

Again, if there is anything that I can do for you in the future, please do not hesitate to let me know. It would be my pleasure.

    Have a great day...
