Serious About Your Business? Then You NEED a Business Journal

Do you have one? If so, then cool.

If not, then get one! Use it!
(I just got a new one -- nice one -- 5"x8.5" -- for only $3 at the Dollar Store)

Why?
We run into so much information on a regular basis but don't always have time to follow-up on it.

Say you're at work and you're checking your email. You see an email that kinda catches your eye; normally you wouldn't open mail from this person, but they said something that rang a bell with something you've been interested in recently.

Your box is already full and you wanna get rid of as much fluff as possible. Yeah, you could easily mark the email as unread and get back to it later; (if you're an even more advanced user, you might even tag the email so its easier to find).

Thing is, once you close your email up that doesn't stop emails from still coming in; especially if you have a webmail account.

So, you get back to your inbox and get side-tracked by all the other mail that you do want to read. You save some of it, as well. The whole time that email from the person you don't normally read is getting pushed further and further down your indox list.

Then another day comes and the cycle continues because it didn't dawn on you to look for that email from the person you don't normally read.

This is a perfect scenario for a business journal. Because instead of attempting to save that email, you can just jot down the information you wanted to glean from it in your business journal and delete the email; (like you normally would); thus not having to remember to change your normal routine.

We all know how hard it is to adjust our routines, on the fly.

I periodically go back through my journal and look at what I have in there...
- product ideas
- script ideas
- links I wanna check out
- books I might wanna read
- stuff I came across that I wanna share with a specific person

...all of which I might just totally forget about if I didn't have it in my journal. I could go on about how essential my journal has become to me; and could probably become to you, (with your own). But, I think you get the picture.

BTW, this isn't my own idea... I got the idea from Howie Schwartz; one of my IM heros.

Get yourself a business journal... you'll be glad you did.
