I've got a few Clickbank questions...

For those of you a bit more familiar with Clickbank, do you mind giving me some insight into these questions? I'm considering using Clickbank simply because of the pool of affiliates they have.

1. When a person purchases from Clickbank, is the charge on their credit card "Clickbank"? I'm guessing it is.

2. I may be selling a combo product that is both CD's AND downloads. What if someone buys, gets the CD's in the mail, and THEN asks for a refund? Will Clickbank simply issue it even though to really get a full refund, I would like them to return the physical items FIRST? This could be a big issue.

Thanks
Dayne

Hmmm...I checked on the physical product and refunds. It looks to me like they can STILL get a full refund without shipping the product back. It says...

      Refund Requests

Refund requests for shippable media products work much like refund requests for one-time purchase digital products, with the key difference being that once you provide the required shipping notification for the order, as detailed above, the refund will not be processed for 7 business days.

Important: Please note that this 7-day refund window ONLY applies if you have created a shipping notification for the order. If not, the refund will be processed in one business day, as it is in a typical ClickBank order.

That is not good at all.

Personally if you are going to be selling actual physical products, Clickbank in the long run may not be beneficial no way you can sell whats on the CD digitally?

Right now I use 1SC for sales. The product is both digital and comes with the whole course on 9-10 audio CD's.

I can't believe Clickbank offers refunds on physical products WITHOUT them returning them first. What a joke. After reading this, that is all I need to know to not use them.

The ONLY reason I wanted to maybe use them was to tap into that huge pool of affiliates. That was it.

The only other option is to do another website with a download version only and put it on Clickbank, but I think I would rather stick with ONE large and brandable website/product.

It really depends what your refund rate is - you have to figure out how much this will cost you overall and factor it into your decision. If you have a large refund rate then it might not be an option for you, but ours is only 2% for example so I would have no problem sticking with Clickbank to offer physical CDs / DVDs etc if we followed that route.

They say that they give 7 days - if this is the case it leaves a long time to follow up with the buyer and try to get them to change their mind - often it might be a misunderstanding, a product defect, a non delivery etc...

Oh, but as for Clickbank's large pool of affiliates - it is there, but you have to work at it. Imo it is a full time job over months and months to recruit affiliates, and you really have to work hard to prove that your product converts if you want serious affiliates to be interested.

Good luck, hope you find a decent solution!

I think I will just stick with 1Shoppingcart. I have more control and easier contact with affiliates. Also, I get more per sale vs. Clickbank. As far as finding affiliates, I will just have to put some work into it to find them as I would with Clickbank.

The question is, would the increase in sales from affiliates offset the occasional refund that did not return the CD.

My advice would be to try it and track the sales and refunds.
The affiliate pool is what makes clickbank attractive. It is much harder to build an affiliate group with 1SC.

Very true John. I guess what I will do is sell how I normal do and see what my refund rate ends up being after having a significant number of sales. I will also split test and refine my sales page at that same time. If sales become strong, refunds are low, and I have a good sales letter...then I may make the Clickbank jump.
