'Shopping cart' recommendations?

Hello All!

I'm a sporadic visitor for 18 months or so and have learned some great stuff. Thanks all for your fabulous contributions.

I registered now because I think you all might have some good suggestions.

We currently sell software online, but to purchase, customers must go to a vendor's website.

What I'd like is to have a shopping cart on our website. I would still like for someone else to process credit card payments and to have some measure of fraud checking done. The payments from the processor to us need to be electronic funds transfer.

I know about Google Checkout, and with the exception of forcing customers to have or make an account, this would be fine. What other companies have what I'm looking for?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions or contributions.

The biggest processors are Authorize.net, Paypal and 2Checkout. All can accept payments and xfer funds to your account.

But I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking which processor is the best? Or what shopping cart software?

Sorry, I wasn't sure what I was asking either. I boggled it by using words I don't know!

If we went with say, Authorize.net, would we also need to purchase Shopping cart software? Or do they have paypal type buttons we would place on our site?

      lol No worries!

Yes. I think everyone offers that. But you'll eventually want a shopping cart to manage products, deliver downloads, track sales and promotions. Authorize.net is just a payment processor. They only take money and tell you "yes, it's good" or "no, it's declined". That's where they stop.

For a free shopping cart I like Zen-Cart. There are modules for all of the major credit card processors.

I second that vote. I use it for my online store and I find it quite good.

Depends on what you want to do. If you have multiple products and want to be able to pretty much do whatever you want to for tracking all your data, products, easy to work with and awesome customer support, then Heavy Metal is tough to beat.

They are not cheap, but after extensive research and nightmares with our first two carts, for our ecommerce stores we went with them and they were awesome to work with.

    Michael!

I wish you had seen my post a couple of weeks ago for a cart that could handle a two tier system! You would have saved me tons of time!

    A couple of questions!
    1) Is this a one time fee or monthly payment?
    2) Can you use PayPal for a two tier system if you are going through a shopping cart rather than direct? Or do I have to use another processor?
    3) Our product has 3 different options/price points - can your cart handle this?

Launching MobiOptin.com this week and have affiliates ready to go...but no where to put them other than a single tier program at PayDotcom

    Thanks!
