Can any one please EXPLAIN this to me??

Ok Few days back I had posted a thread that i want to sell off my website on flippa and what should be the price etc etc. Got some useful replies.

I went to flippa just to analyze what kind of sites were 'expensive' and got sold, i came across a few superb sites which were earning 2-3K through adsense every month. One of those sites just shook me badly.. why??

The keyword the guy was ranking for had 450,000 EXACT searches every month and 2,090,000 pages appear when we search for this term(wont reveal the term cz i respect that guy's work).

I was shocked to see how could he rank for such a term. Then i just view his site, it was verrryyy basic, with 4-5 articles and adsense, DATS IT.

Then using firefox i checked the PR and all... the site is PR1(within 2 months :-s ) , has approx 190 backlinks according to yahoo.

Now another thing about yahoo, i checked a few of its backlinks, most of them were blog comments(RELATED BLOGS) but the links were nofollow, still yahoo counted them as backlinks.

NOW MY MAIN QUESTION.

As per my guess, the guy must have used some software like scrapebox, and he also submitted articles to article directories. Do Scrapebox really work?? Can it deliver such marvelous results?

I still can't believe that site got sold for freaking $24,000 , and its just a few months old. For many of you it might be normal and even you must be doing this, but I am not, so I am surprised,happy for that guy, and curious to know what could be the strategy.
