Hi everyone,

Any SEO experts or anyone with ideas how I can get my name removed?

At the time it had a huge number of replies from affiliates, members & customers all disputing this persons made up claims and saying how great the business was for them.

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

    Steve, With all due respect.
If that site exists, I really don't want to Google your name and search
through all the BS. Just post the link to the site and Google will add a back
link from the Warrior Forum to it's count. Then we will be able to search for
your name an find it in the #1 position.

Really, I did search your name and I wasn't willing to sift through all the
listings to locate the site you're talking about, Sorry.

Just send the persons Hosting company a message stating your case or get
a Lawyer to contact the perp. Other than that you're stuck. It's a $hit or
get off the pot kindadeal. Do something or move on.

Is it hurting you? If so then you may have legal recourse.

I'm no Lawyer and do not act as one on TV. Seek Professional Legal Advice.

    Hope that Helps,
    Have a Great Day!

If this is a serious issue, there are other ways around this. There are companies out there that can help with this type of thing. If you have tried contacting the company and their hosting company and that does not work to resolve the issue, you could always work to move the site out of the rankings by building positive sites of your name and companies so that this bad listing is way down in the search results and instead the customers will just see all the positive before they ever (if ever) see this result. You could also choose to go negative and help this site get sandboxed through excessive or bad links but that is an ethical bridge you will have to decide whether to cross.

On the other hand, you could just buy the site too. It sounds like the site is a dying site so you might be able to buy it for very little and just remove the content yourself.

If its like complaintsboard or ripoffreport its a extortion shakedown. ripoffreport charges upwards of 25k to annotate and bury a post.

Hire a reputation management expert and bury there post on page 75 of the SERPS with quality positive content.

I'm on one too. Don't ask why - long story. It doesn't come up first, but it's above the fold.

I honestly don't know how they get away with this sort of thing but they do. At the time I was getting all sorts of threats and it scared me ****less. First time I'd ever come across anything like it so I really believedthese guys were going to come knocking at my door, complete with firearms lol.

As soon as it was put up there I recieved an offer from an 'SEO' company advising me how damaging it was and offering to bury it for me. So nice of them, don't you think? But actually that was what convinced me it was nothing more than a scam and I actually felt quite chuffed that someone out there thought I was big enough to worry about.

I've often thought about trying to bury it myself but then it serves as a reminder to me of just how much rubbish is out there so I leave it alone. Probably not all that good for anyone who doesn't know me doing a search and seeing it there, but I guess that's a risk I'm prepared to take for now.

These things are common. People have a lot of time on their hands and are often jealous because they are not successful. They are "fat" people sitting at home eating their Pizza, watching The Simspsons whilst the real people are generating a successful income online.

To true mate. You and I have both been hit by these haters. My view is very close to yours: Fat loser in his Momma's basement. Hates all those who are succeeding because he hasn't ever even had a girlfriend, other than the virtual one online (which is actually a 60-year old janitor who masquerades as teenage girls in chat rooms). I picture fat loser sitting there in a stained bathrobe, surrounded by Twinkie wrappers.

OP, we all get a few bad reviews. Put yourself out there and it's gonna happen. the good ones outweigh the bad - that's all that matters.

I was a member of host4income and lost £200.It was around about the year 2000.

I asked for a refund but never got one? The site had a forum which was pulled due to the large amount of complaints.

No one ever replied to my emails. In the end i just gave up

The host4income that i joined was through a Mr Simon Stepsys?

If you do a search you will find a lot of info on Mr Simon Stepsys.

Steve was this a joint venture?

          Hi Livo,

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get a refund? If you asked for one within 14 days you should have got one by return?

I ran it myself and employed someone (a Mr Tim Thomas) full time for customer support. It was mad/inundated the first couple of months until we sorted out the FAQ's & support.

Simon Stepsys was an affiliate/member who joined exactly the same as you.

I was hoping there would be a few old members on this site. To find someone who never got a refund is sods law I guess. Don't suppose you've got your original email receipt?

This sounds like something that requires effective legal advice from a qualified solicitor.

I am NOT a solicitor but might a solicitors letter sent to the hosting company involved do the trick?

Alternatively, create 6 - 10 sites, optimized for your name which can rank higher than this site.

        • I have been on the Internet since 1993.

I have bad RAP about me and my company on Scam.com. I just focused on building my business and rebut it if someone brings it up. It was done to extort me from doing business with the real focus of their contempt.

So it has become a non issue as I have built a ton of back links and articles and blogs over the years and it ranks so far down in the search engines to really matter.

And another thing, I conduct myself responsibly and "do the right thing". People know me and know I am a good business man and always treat the customer right. Heck you can even call me on my cell phone.

So bottom line, move on and ignore and build your web branding and business.

I am also on the RipOff report for giving away free subscriptions and the complainer complained because they felt like they deserved even more then we give away.

          Go figure.

That's the best way to put it.

When someone or a company is very successful, people will always talk BS about them and say bad things.

Steve, by any chance would "LiveWebs Limited" be a competing hosting company? Can you prove the allegations in the post are false? If so, you might have the grounds for a profitable libel suit.

There is also a list of supposed aliases in the post. If this part is untrue, you may be able to get the entire post removed.

If you want to get down and dirty a bit, you could also take up the issue with Cafe Press (they promote t-shirts and such on the grumble text site, for those who haven't looked) and PayPal (they also solicit donations).

My guess is that the contradictory posts shined some unwanted light on their claims, and took some focus away from their monetizing their little crusade. Cut the purse strings, and the site likely goes away when the domain expires...

I always wondered how those "scam alert" type sites survive. I'm all for protecting each other from scam artists but basically anyone can sign up and leave an unsubstantiated and even worse anonymous post that will stay forever (or until the site goes down).

I never trust the info on those scam alert sites. It's the equivalent of the an affiliate setting up a fake review site.

The only one I would trust is the BBB (not sure if they have that across the pond) but they actually require proof and investigate. And they give the accused a chance to tell their side of the story.

I think you've gotten spot on advice of going to the host and the CafePress/PayPal. I would also hire a lawyer. You can't libel people, even on the Internet.

          Thanks John,

I don't know about Livewebs? But yes I can prove all the allegations on the post are false. The "aliases" are simply members autoresponder account emails. Everyone who bought the package also got their own autoresponder account.

If there's no joy from the letters I've sent to the site and his hosting co, then I will contact Cafe Press & Paypal. Failing that then it's time I sorted this & have a lawyer look into it.

Is it having a profound effect? Quite a lot of this goes around on a regular basis and it can be damaging initially but quickly fizzles away.

    Thanks everyone.

It's never bothered me before, I forgot all about it. But I spotted a recent forum post asking about one of my products & someone replied to them telling them to be wary & do a search on my name, so it is and has been affecting a few sales over the years. Not many, but still, I want to operate with full openness and transparency and not have this taint prospective customers/partners opinions.

Anyway, I've sent a couple of letters off today, one to the guy who runs the site & the other to his hosting co. Next step is get my name filling the 1st page of Google.

one time i created a html post on mturk to test a cpa offer. i spelled the submit button "submits". now if you google my name, in the #2 spot is a post from someone on the mturks' scammers and spammers thread saying "dumbsh$t spammer matt j can't even get his fake submit button right."
all that becuase i actually paid people a dollar to visit my offer to see if it was registering clicks.

    LOL

oh well. nothing i can do about it , or at least nothing i care to do about it. i guess that's just what happens when you do business online. it is inevitable that someone will complain about something.

This was indeed a pyramid scheme, but it was executed in a round about way. A number of companies have operated this scam, but the concept is always the same; they offer an ecommerce site (which in reality plays no role in this) that requires the purchase of a hosting account and participants attempt to earn money by recruiting others into the pyramid by selling them the same exact site and hosting that they bought.

The person at the top of the scheme makes money from every affiliate through requiring them to purchase hosting. The hosting cost is significantly higher than what the affiliate can make per referral, requiring the affiliate to send several sales to merely break even.

There are always some happy participants in these "pay to promote" programs, but they are generally online business newbies and do not understand the dynamics of what they are a part of and that the average participant will lose money.

      Actually DubDubDubDot, it wasn't.

Affiliates could join for free and make the exact same commissions for selling the service as people who bought the shopping site and hosting. There was no person "at the top" as it was a simple (free to join) 2 level affiliate program similar to Affiliatefuture, Shareasale etc.

The incentive for people who bought the service was having their own shopping site with CommissionJunction CPA & CPS commission links embedded.

And that's why it ran successfully and legally for over 6 years.

    Steve,

It's a common problem amongst individuals and companies. There IS a solution. It's called reputation management and it's a case of pushing that listing off the first page by indexing a ranking pages that you create.

I bet I can do it piece of cake.

Send me a PM and I'll go into more detail.

    All the best,
