Blog Post VS Article Submission

I was curious to know if there is a formula to how this should work. If I am maintaining a blog, how much juice does a new blog post have vs taking that same article and submitting it to a directory.

My blog is a political rant so it's based on day to day journalism. If I was going to submit an article to a directory, should I focus on a subject that will have relevancy 6 months to a year from now? Oppose a news story that would go on my blog but may very well lose juice do to lack of interest once the world moves on to something else.

Thanks in advance.

When you post to your blog, you are adding content for your visitors and search engines to feed on. If it is quality content, your blog or website will rank higher on search engines. This is on-page optimization.

When it comes to posting to article directories, you drive traffic to your blog or website using the directories using the links that point to your blog. Directories help you with backlinks. Those links will always be there for the life of the directory. This in an off- page optimization for your blog and it quickly raises the rank of your blog or website on search engines. Normally, article directories have got many categories, so you can choose where your article fits best.

You can do both of these posting methods using that particular article. You can start by posting to your blog, then later post to article directories. Most directories allow that.

    I hope that helps.

People's opinions and experiences will differ widely. But it doesn't really matter much because you can do both anyway (just make sure to publish and be indexed on your own site first, and appreciate that even when you do that, there are some article directories that will still outrank you temporarily for the appropriate keywords!).

An article anywhere (on your blog and/or in a directory) will be viewed more, over a longer period, if it ranks for keywords which people are searching for in future as well as now.
