Best usb mic for video voiceover? (I have <$50, total)

Is there such a thing as a good mic for video voiceover use if I have less than $50 to spend (including shipping). Anything that's at a chain store that's 1/2-way decent?

Recommendations?

Thanks!

I prefer Logitech's headphone mic combos the keep the mic in the same spot all the time, cuts down on interference and a lot mor comortable IMHO. This is the one I use.

but may put you over the $50 mark with shipping

this one is cheaper but you will sacrifice a bit of quality

I haven't actually tried it yet, as I just bought a mic today, but ...

Yesterday, I went to Best Buy to replace a headset that my children broke. I was also looking for something that might give a quality sound. I spoke to an associate there, asking which one might work best.

It turned out that the guy was in a band... so he had experience with mics and a little recording.
He said that headset combos are not really the way to go if you want quality. Rather ...

Buy an actual microphone. When you look at the mics, they will tell you the purpose. i.e. karoke, presenting, stage, etc. Choose the one for presentations. They are generally in the midrange for price, not the cheapest or most expensive.

I went back to Best Buy today and got the mic that he recommended. It is normally $20, but they had an open box for $10. I snatched that up quick.

Interestingly, I looked at the promo for PLR Video Gold (or whatever it is called). In the video, Stephen Luc had an actual mic next to his desk on a floor stand. Hmmm... I wonder what he uses that for?

    Anyways, happy shopping!

Just for voice over work on Camtasia videos and such, a Microsoft or Logitech headset/mic combo is fine...But, if you want superior sound quality, you can't beat the Blue SnowBall USB Microphone. You can find good deals on this mic on Ebay.

But, for your budget, go to Circuit City or Best Buy and get the headset/mic combo for $39.95. I use the Microsoft version. My mother just got the Logitech one. We talk on Skype to each other with them and the sound quality is really good. (and I bought mine to do voice over work on my Camtasia vids.)

"I can" is much more important than I.Q.
