I am also one of the new guys here on WF and would like to formally introduce myself

My name is John Webster and I have been around the IM business for about 7 years now. I have been involved in all kind of different Internet projects taking me from one thing to another over the past years.

I started my Internet career back in 2003 where I and some other friends founded one of Scandinavia's first poker clubs. we went online with a poker site at the same time.

It was a great success and we created more clubs in other cities later on, and our poker website got bigger and better.

We all finally decided to quit the entire gambling industry and sold our shares 2 years later.

I started a new online business in 2005 together with one of the friends mentioned above and we still operate that business today. And now 5 years later we have more than 250+ domains portfolio with 100+ running websites, most niche sites but also different internet projects like; Gaming portal, Membership site, Marketplace, E-book sites, Community site, Hosting, Web development, Outsourcing and more...

I have learned that the key to success (for me) is to outsource projects and slice them up in different smaller tasks to the best you know in your freelancer network.

But I use most of my time on producing new niche and micro niche websites that makes money from adsense, amazon and so forth.

I therefore also use a lot of my time on subjects like:

Wordpress
Adsense
SEO
Niche and Micro Niche
Keyword Research

Let me know if some of you members have any questions about those subjects. I might have been in the same situation before and would love to give this nice forum and its fine members something in return

Best regards
JW

I would say that the best thing that you could do is buy a domain with the target key phrase inside - and remember .com domains are best.

      Installe Wordpress on the domain

Install "All in one SEO pack" plugin
      Install "Google XML sitemaps" plugin
      Find a suitable template

Blog about your Niche or Micro Niche and make sure your content is unique. That will make you good steady money income

      Example niche site here: Tea-Tree-Oil-Blog.com

I have chosen the products in the left menu "amazon widget". I look for something that relates very close to my target key phrases.

Do you rely mainly on SEO to bring you organic traffic over time or do you use other techniques for boosting your traffic in the initial stages of your website?

50-70% of my traffic comes from the search engines. The rest comes from sites that link to me.

When you have finished your niche website it's always important to continue working on it and create some backlinks to the site.

      Here are some examples:

Write some good SEO articles with your niche key phrases in the text and submit them to ezine, articlebase, ehow and others too.

Create a blogger, hubpage and Wordpress blog/hub. Write about your niche and link back to your niche website.

There are many other ways to get backlinks like; Twitter, Facebook pages, Stumble Upon, Delicious, Digg and many other Web 2.0. services and the good thing is that they all have high pagerank.

You could also search for other high ranking sites related to your niche and see if you can get your link on their page somehow. Link exchange, Buy ad spot for a small amount, Make a comment and leave your link in the "website/url" field (Exists on almost any Wordpress blog).

Do these things and pick a niche you can conquer. That will earn you a steady income over time

Hi John would love to chat more about this. My journey has some similarities (my early offices were in the infamous Starnet building in Vancouver, also big in the gaming niche).

Today I still make most of my income selling services to offline clients but I am always trying to increase my "passive" income.

Recently for some odd reason a few of my older mega size AdSense sites took a big jump in revenue, it seems Google re-discovered them after a few years of almost nothing.

This got my interest again and I've been devoting a few hours each day in that area. A very big difference this time is I am FORCING myself to outsource. My business model this time requires it. Plus I know my weaknesses now and doing the same thing myself over and over every day is not something I can do.

Perhaps we could chat via Skype, love to hear how you’re handling outsourcing, I'm doing fairly well this time with it I can see that systemising the process is crucial.

    Welcome... let's chat sometime.

      Hi David,

Sounds very interesting about your old adsense sites.

Feel free to send me a PM if you have any questions

Hi John, you are doing exactly what I have set out to achieve - many small niche websites/blogs earning a slow but steady income. Could you tell me whether you have heard of the plugin "SEO Power" and if so which one of the SEO plugins (All In One SEO or SEO POwer) do you think is better? And do you know whether you can run both plugins on one site?

      Hi Petra,

I didn't know SEO Power before but after looking into it I think that it would be possible to run both plugins at the same time. But remember to always backup your DB just in case if anything bad should happen.

All in one SEO Pack is a plugin I highly recommend others to use and its free:

WordPress › All in One SEO Pack WordPress Plugins

      Some features:
      • Support for Custom Post Types
      • Advanced Canonical URLs
      • Fine tune Page Navigational Links
      • Built-in API so other plugins/themes can access and extend functionality
      • ONLY plugin to provide SEO Integration for WP e-Commerce sites
      • Nonce Security
      • Support for CMS-style WordPress installations
      • Automatically optimizes your titles for search engines
      • Generates META tags automatically
      • Avoids the typical duplicate content found on WordPress blogs
      • For beginners, you don't even have to look at the options, it works out-of-the-box. Just install.
      • For advanced users, you can fine-tune everything
      • You can override any title and set any META description and any META keywords you want.
      • Backward-Compatibility with many other plugins, like Auto Meta, Ultimate Tag Warrior and others.

    Hi aniee,

No I am sorry. I don’t know any SEO tool that can do that but if you find something like that please let me know

It takes a lot of hard work to make backlinks and its also quite boring most of the time… But in the end it pays off to do it.

Dedicate some of your spare time and build yourself a Niche empire… I have made a free guide here if you are interested:
