Could i make a lot of money starting a blog like this?

I'm really thinking about starting a home improvement blog. I am very handy and skilled in many trades. I love fixing things and troubleshooting problems so what better way to show my skills without getting dirty then starting a blog?

I see lots of these blogs but most of them just give general information and promote their actuall contracting business. I will be making detailed posts of how to do the job from start to finish.

I also thought about setting up a small demonstration studio in a garage to make videos of how to do different projects.

I just don't know if this market is saturated and its easy to find videos on youtube how to do things.

If you put a $50 price tag on a YouTube video, people would buy it. Price has a way of adding value, so, if you make a few (good) vids, slap on the highest price someone would pay for that information, and write a sales letter around it. It will sell.

Personally I'd build a membership site out of this idea. You'll make more off of recurring payments.

Great idea, but it is competitive so I hope your a good marketer, and you have time on your hands. You may want to pick a subniche of home improvement that is less competitive. This way it is easier for you to target keywords that you can rank on the first page of Google for. If not you will be competing against big business Lowes, and Home Depot for example.

Just do your research. But yes, to answer your question I think it can be very lucrative if you play your cards right.

      Good luck!

I really doubt that you can make money with your abilities on the net and with a blog.
At least you should make a website and promote it , then you can expect earning money from it.

NEVER let anyone tell you that a market is too big (especially when it is something you are good at)

You don't need the whole market, you just need a dedicated group of fans.

      Good Luck

Good response. but if he is not a seasoned marketer how do you expect him to compete in a very competitive niche like that? There is a big learning curve involved if he is a beginner. But if that is your passion then go for it. If your interested in what you are doing which you are, then it will be a lot easier too succeed. But if your new I am not sure how much IM experience you have get a mentor, and learn, learn, and learn some more so you can be competitive.

Sorry Edman just received your reply so I have updated my post. You sound like you are very experienced go for it man! It takes someone with a lot of knowledge which you have, too fight with the big boys.

Now knock them off there perch I like your idea. Good luck!

You say you want to make ALOT of money.. the only way you can do that is by spending a lot of money and getting professional help.. Especially in such a high demand niche.
There are plenty of self-made people. I've been making a full time living online for 12 years and never hired a mentor or a designer (I am one). I outsource very little because in what I do, my standards are very high.

There is plenty of marketing info right here on the Warrior Forum for those that need it.

I believe Meghan was on your side. She has many positive points covered.
But, I know of people who started a new online business with just a couple of hundred dollars and are now making 5 figure mthly earnings. They started out using 'open source' software and their minisites were really UGLY. Even their ecovers. But, the content was AWESOME!

          Why?

          1) They believed in their selves.
          2) They believed in their product/service (& researched to find out what people really wanted)
          3) They listened to their customers. So they kept improving.
          4) They continuously made positive changes to their product/service.
          5) They kept on overdelivering & overdelivering.

I know you can do it, Bro! Take a look at this website. Its a different niche, but he has made his skill/hobby into earning revenues.

VIDEO COPILOT | After Effects Tutorials, Plug-ins and Stock Footage for Post Production Professionals

He teaches people how to create various VFX stuff. On top of that, he has video products & 'apps' to sell.

Go For It! Success is yours for the taking.

Reading your OP I would have made the same assumptions Meghan did. You didn't give any indication of having experience with online marketing. Best to provide all the info in your OP question if you want an answer that suits your situation.

Since you have been doing this since 1995, you know that making a lot is a simple question of traffic. Which in turn depends on your ability to produce high quality content.

YES you can make a lot of money with a blog that genuinely shares in-demand skills!!!

My first-ever website was a blog of a similar nature: sharing my passion and expertise in one particular field I was very familiar with. That blog expanded into my first product, and down the road into a membership site. Guess what? it worked like a charm and within a few months it was generating $10k+ a month.

As long as you have something valuable to share, and you give it your own personal unique touch, and there's a demand for that knowledge, you can make a VERY successful "tutorial blog" out of it.
