Does this work anymore?

Does Direct linking to a merchant page work anymore or review pages? Don't want to spend all this time doing it if it doesn't work anymore.

There are two answers to this.

    1. For PPC campaigns, eventually, Google will find out and your quality
score will tank. So I don't recommend it for PPC.

    2. For everything else, depends on the niche. There is no one answer to
your question. Test for your niche and see if it works for YOU.

It you link directly you can not insert your opt-in form, and that means you will not get buyers contact information. To avoid some work you may loose your potential customer forevever. Just think about it.

I sometimes do it to quickly test a niche ... buy a domain that redirects to an affiliate offer and drive some traffic to see if I can get a sale and how many clicks it takes.

Quick way to test and you can then get better results (or build a list) by adding a website afterwards.

Yes, my diet review site still makes money, but I made sure to make all of my reviews honest and original. Don't put up lazy, cookie cutter reviews and expect to earn people's trust.

Plus, google doesn't seem to like these type of sites much anymore, so you'll have to do a lot of promotion to get traffic. But, they CAN make money if done well.

If you want to do direct linking, you might want to try other networks such as AOL, Bing or secondary search engines. Google PPC today is too high to have a good return from direct linking,

The reson why I'm asking is because I read that direct linking doesn't really work anymore.. people buying online are smarter.. need to gain their trust ect..so this is why Im thinking about weather to switch to another technique or follow another business model.. article marketing is not really a business model.. I have made a few sales but like I said don't want to be wasting time doing it this way if its not going to work..

      Test out for yourself.

I still have a couple of sites where I am direct linking and I still make sales.

But I wouldn't tell you to simply go ahead and direct link because it depends on your niche market.
