Squeeze pages and affilate marketing question

So I'm finally going to step into the AM arena. I have two existing models which are working quite well for me and was inspired by the "I turned $9 into $900+" thread.

When building a site promoting clickbank products, should one have a squeeze page as their landing/home page with an email opt in and a short amount of copy giving away a free report? Then, in the footer links, link to pages within the site where articles are posted (which will also have the email opt in form)? With this format, email marketing would be the sole form of promoting the products.

Or is it better to have more of a blog format with the email opt in located in the sidebar etc and affilate adverts and reviews scattered throughout the site? I am more inclined to use the squeeze page but my main concern is that people will only be able to navigate around my site if I include text links on each page (which is fine).

Any input would be appreciated. Many thanks.

On all the testing I've done (which isn't an enormous amount, I admit), I always do better with this system, apparently regardless of the niche.

I know that some others have tested and done better with just a squeeze page, though, and for this reason I think there isn't a "simple, right answer".

I suspect that (contrary to popular belief) it doesn't much depend on the niche, but on the methods used to drive traffic to the site (i.e. "who the people are"). My traffic comprises people who've read one or more of my articles, and I think a proportion of them go to the site wanting/expecting to find "more of the same" and won't be so keen on just a squeeze page. Possibly a squeeze page approach would perform better for me if I were using PPC traffic(?).

Here is the only real answer to your question.

The only way to find out what works best for YOU is by testing each.

Each niche is different AND there are too many variables involved (quality
of content, look of page, etc.) to definitively say that one way will outperform
      another.

      Test...test...test.

THEN you will get your answer.

I say send all your traffic to a squeeze page, but don't promote straight away! - Have more than just a free ebook to offer them, initially use the free ebook to get them on your list, but then follow up with other free useful stuff, build the relationship and then you can hit them with a clickbank offer, you'll get a much better response when you do send out that "promotion" email :-)
