Generational Differences Affect Marketing?

Warriors,

Do you think it's important to vary your marketing "style" when targeting a particular generation? I guess what I'm asking here is: Do you make it a point to "speak the language" of your targeted age group?

For instance, do you consciously use certain buzz words or slang terms relative to a certain niche group representing a different demographic or do you stick to a tried and true formula when writing your sales letters?

Why or why not?

    Hi William,

In my opinion, I would absolutely change my language for the profile of my audience.

All marketing is about creating relationships, building rapport and meeting customer needs.

If I spoke to my 75 year old mother using some of the slang terms I use when talking to my 18 year old niece she wouldn't have a clue and vice versa.

I understand you're specifically asking about sales letters here and they all seem to follow the same formula, but if you look closely, the language within each sales letter (successful ones) will be cleverly crafted to target specifically the profile of the audience it wants to attract. The design may look similar but the language will be different.

    I hope that helps:confused:

    Jo

Yes definitely, you need to change the tone and the words, as well as use the slang they use, different ages faces the problems in a different way, when you are 18 knowing girls/boys is your main goal, when you are 89 your goal may be enjoy your grandchildren.. furthermore we need to address them in a different way
