Try out the google alerts with your favorite keywords and choose discusions. Google will deliver new forum posts with your key to your mailbox almost everyday and so you find the niche forums easily, better they find you!

I don't know a lot about auto posting to forums - but I imagine it would be about as canned as auto commenting on blogs. Part of the appeal in using forums is that you post relevant comments to other people's threads - this in turn showcases firstly your skills in any given topic. It also helps you to gain trust with other forum users because your posts are specifically relevant and helpful and people get to "know" what type of person you are within the forum environment. I don't see how those benefits could be achieved through autoposting to forums, but I am happy to be educated by other forum users if I am wrong on this.
    Best wishes

Ok, i did a Google search for "forum directory" without the quotes and seemingly got a couple of good resources on the first page. Hopefully there is also some other suggestions others have as well.

    Tools?

Well I dont know about them but what I do is simply go to Google.com and type

    "my niche" + "forum"

This fetches me tens and hundreds of niches related to my website.

Big-boards lists the big forums around. But I just simply type in "mykeyword + forum." I usually get good results with it.
