My Biggest Pet Peeve with Aweber

I think it has to do with the number of lists and so on. Plus how many people are using it. That's my best guess anyway. This forum used to also be very slow due to the quantity of traffic before it was changed.

It's not just the admin area that's slow - whenever I subscribe to something I can always tell that it's Aweber if I have to wait for my confirmation email. Absolutely every time I have to wait it always turns out to be Aweber.

with IE it takes forever to load up. It's all that fancy javacript in the page.
FF handles it alot better.

  My biggest gripe is that they don't get rid of people who have unsubscribed. They remain on your lists and can keep the numbers inflated to the point where you need to pay more. If somebody has unsubscribed, I don't think I have any right to contact them again so I don't see why they are not immediately eliminated.
  
  On a similar point, I have some lists where all I want to do is to send subscribers ten messages and then stop. But there's no automatic way of deleting subscribers after a certain number of messages or a certain time. I could do that years ago with my then autoresponder software.
  
  However, Aweber is a great company so I hope this moany thread doesn't put people off using them.

  I do use Firefox, and it still is slow. Better today though. All of us must mess around with our lists late at night because last night was brutal. Hopefully someone at aweber reads this forum and considers our suggestions.

  For what it's worth, when it's slow for me, I immediately get the chat session going and the answer is ALWAYS - "we have some maintainance going on right now". I don't know if that's the truth, or they are trained to say that. It's uncanny how that always is the answer thogh.

Pearson,

If someone doesn't care for a product or service I appreciate them telling me about it. You only get the good points on a sales page so it's helpful to know what some of the drawbacks might be.

I wasn't aware that Aweber didn't remove people when they unsubscribe. I don't think I'd like that "feature" - especially since Aweber charges more for larger lists.

Lynn,

You can go to the Aweber site and remove them yourself manually so the list doesn't have to grow in size. But it seems to me that you should have the possibility to do this automatically.

Mark, it's been slow for me for several months, ever since they went to their new web 2.0 looking interface. Doesn't matter which browser or computer I'm on, it's consistently slow, so they must be doing maintenance 24/7.

The slow response of AWeber is closely rivaled by PayPal. I don't have the fastest internet connection. I live in a rural area and the only alternative is satellite. Consider yourself lucky if you don't have to use satellite. Expensive and not the most reliable.

That being said, AWeber and PayPal are the VERY slowest to access. I usually have something by my side to do while waiting.

Ya, I use to access their web interface with a program and we noticed the slow down with the new interface. We had to change our program because of it.

  Since they made the changes about 6 months ago the system is bloated and unresponsive , it's irrelevent even if you have small lists, I have a seperate account with only about 10,000 people on the lists and it's slow as hell.
