One simple fact people don't know about Paypal....

After reading yet another "alternative to paypal" thread I decided to post this on the forum.

Here's what I think about paypal email support:

They are a nightmare

If you have any problems with Paypal, Call them.

You will not believe how helpful they are on the phone.

About two months ago, I was having problems with my paypal account (repeat account limitations). I contacted them via email and they simply told me my account was "too risky". I then tried the phone support and they were really helpful but they weren't able to solve the problem and kept spinning me around in circles. I then told the person to connect me to a supervisor or some higher ranked person. He did and it took me 5 minutes to explain my situation to the supervisor or whoever the higher ranked person was. He told me I don't need to worry and he unlocked my account.

It's been over a month and I haven't had a problem with paypal in the mean time.

So the lesson here is to Call paypal and get your stuff figured out on the phone instead of banging your head with their email support.

Hope it helps

Not a bad idea at all. Thanks for sharing. I think that it is better to play safe with them. Be aware of account frozen. It can happen.

    Mohammad,

I have always called them if there's a problem, even for technical support. They have always been great on the phone.

You are right though, email does leave a bit to be desired.

    Thanks,

    John

Totally agree with you pal. I had a problem with Paypal regarding a few payments and a simple phone call sorted it. Please people, phone before posting bad reviews of Paypal.

Yea, but getting someone on the line IS a nightmare

You need to click the "phone customer support" link on their website to get an access code before calling...but then they dont give you the number to call!

So you've got to search google for their number, and of course their site (without the number) gets first position for several of the results. So you've got to dodge that hopeful confusion and head to a third party site such as paypalsucks.com to get the number.

Then once you call them you get the automated system.
You've got to enter your phone number and then the access code you got from their website earlier (if you knew to do so!)

After that you get the computer CS rep. who won't help you with ****.
So you've got to keep saying things she "doesn't understand" until finally the computer gives up.

At this point the voice of the computer actually changes to a legacy system and asks you to select an option. As long as you keep saying things, it will just keep repeating itself. If you press a number then you get more automation.

The secret here is to just wait...after a few moments the voice will come back and tell you they will now connect you to a rep.

        What a load of bull****.

It's a good isea to contact them in event your just starting sell products, if they see a lot of payments comming in they tend to freeze the account...

I'm afraid PP usually shoot first and ask questions later..

This won't happen if you call them before you are expecting a bump in sales.

That way they will add a note on your account and when someone from the paypal security team looks at you account, they will see the note and won't freeze your account.

I ALWAYS call their phone support. I've had a couple cases where people paid with stolen accounts or they used a stolen credit card and instead of shooting them an email asking why my account was limited, all I do is call and they explain exactly what the problem is and how I need to fix it.

It's so much easier listening to someones voice and being able to ask questions instantly.

Email is great but it isn't when it involves your money and your lively hood (a pp account)

Thanks for the great advice. So far I haven't had any huge problems with Paypal except for when I reported a site for taking membership money under false pretenses. I was totally ignored by them.
