Is this header too gawdy?

Do you want people to read your blog or your header? I say remove it completely. I dont think you need one. Just my 2 cents

I have some sites that have simple header graphics and some that are more graphic intensive.

The question is, how does it effect your bottom line? You won't know until you test and compare it to something else.

With that being said, I do have ugly Adsense sites that do make some serious cash.

Hey Charlie,

You did the right thing by asking for an opinion.

Your header sure eats-up a lot of prime, Rodeo Drive real estate.
It's not bad looking. I like the pics in it, of course. But at the very
least make the height about 125 px or get rid of it.

Get a url rotator and test. But do not keep your current header
height. It'll kill you. Make the header a smaller height and split test
that and no header.

I think it looks alright but as is mentioned it does take up a lot of space. Make the height less and it should be fine.

Gawdy is not the word I would use to describe it, but it is definitely "too" something...

I believe in minimizing header graphics, because its only purpose is to give a personality to the page context...

The three images to the right, while they tell the story of your website, are a real turn-off to me... Those three images I believe are best as inset images for each of your text pages and posts, and nothing more...

The Hair is too big IMO and header height would be nice if it can be reduce. The design, pictures and colour looks good to me.

It eats up too much valuable real estate. Not being in either the market or the niche, I can't say if it's too gaudy.

I do have a question, though...

What the heck does lap band surgery have to do with hair removal? (See your front page)

I think you have bigger issues to sort out before worrying about your header graphic...

Hey Charlie, check your "recent posts" section. (could be cross-linking too for search engine spidering)

IMHO Charlie, the graphic is too large overall. Grabs too much attention and wants to hold it vs letting the visitor move to the content and ads.
