Best time to split-test price?

Is it better to split-test the price before "launch"? If so, how exactly would you go about doing that?

I figure if you split-test the price after "launch" won't affiliates get angry? Since they won't know at first why their commissions are fluctuating.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

    Hey Steve,

Personally I would make sure I tested my price and headline before I launched anything. I'd do it by sending a small portion of my list to a split test. I'd use Google's Webmaster Tools or my own 1ShoppingCart Split Testing feature to do this. The first test would send people to the same sales letter with three different headlines. Then I'd do a second test changing the price.

Once I'd had 100 people visit each page I'd see which one converted the best. I'd then combine the best headline with the best price and go for launch.

If you don't have a list, ask a friend in IM to send a small part of their list to your offer. Obviously, you'll need to give them something in return, either money or perhaps some work for them.

    Hope that helps.

    Matt

In my personal experience, (which is still a very limited one) I found that doing all my research before launching, which includes splitt testing works best.

But I guess there are no absolute rights or wrongs here.
