The word "Free" in a domain

Does the having the word "free" in your domain name somehow get you blocked in the search engines? or automatically flagged as spam?

As in free keyword .com

Apparently not as I just dropped by google and tried this (it was the first word I could think of.)

Many domains have the word "free" in them and I don't think they affect the search engine results. But they do in autoresponder email series.

Lots of Spam is marked because people are trying to give you something for free. At least that's what they say - it's free - but then they hit you with crap you don't want.

Hence the word FREE in an email title, etc is usually to be avoided.

        This is dreadful advice.

These days, that's more likely to trigger spam filters than just using the word "free" is (though that's also not good).

This thread, this thread, this thread and several others equally easily found using the forum's search function may clarify the matter a little.

          Sorry if it's confusing.
I read it ... I'm saying that splitting it up like "fr*e*e" or "fr.ee" or whatever, as you suggest, actually makes it worse, not better. As explained in the threads to which I've linked.

          Sorry if it's confusing.

The word "free" is perfectly fine to use in email. It's when people over use it (or any word) that raises a red flag.

And Alexa is 100% right. Using FR*EE or any variation will do more harm than good.

No, No and No again !!!!

I have had one in my Domain going on for 3 years now and every year (thru my own hard work) my Domain moves up in the SERPs quite nicely !!

Maybe it hurts in the Title of Autoresponder Series, though.
