A small trick to read content from forums without registering or logging in...

When you search for something in Google and if the result is from a forum... sometimes some forums ask you to register and login to read the content.

But you may not want to do that because that would be the only time you visit that forum for a specific content.

There is a simple way to work around it.

Forums allow google spiders to crawl their content without logging in.

All the results in Google now has a link called "cached". Click on it and you will see the page. These are the copies of the pages that Google last indexed.

  • Sorry,

But if you have to log in to read the content then the spiders don't read it.

I'll stand corrected if you can show an example. I'm not always Wright

    • Some forums have this page view limit.

So if I am not registered, I can only view a limited number of pages and once those pages are up, I will have to register to the forum to read the posts. (I think if you delete the cookies, you can view the pages again)

Don't remember of an example right now but if I find one I'll edit this post and show you one.

    • But you won't be able to get the most recent content. I mean, google won't have indexed many of the posts that were made after the bot crawled it.

But I guess it's better than having to register on the forum just to view one post
  • Thanks for the info!
