What do you tell your subscribers when you just found out site isn't working properly??

ARGGGGGHHHHH!!!

I was testing out my autoresponder service when I just found out that the link to my review page that I direct subscribers to after they confirm their subscription wasn't working due to my error in coding, so the design was all messed up.

Thankfully, it is fixed, but do I send out a broadcast email apologizing for the error and resending them to the link?

Gosh, I'm so @#$%% annoyed right now! I just started building my list and this happens..sheesh.

Thanks,

Ike

Congratulations on doing something and starting to
    communicate with your list.

These things happen in the early days - it's called
    a learning experience.

Now, set-up a system to prevent the same thing
    happening in future.

For example, I at least triple-check my e-mail and
links BEFORE hitting the broadcast button.

That way, I prevent the problem at source.

Personally, I have a policy of not sending out the
    'oops, bad link' type e-mails.

I don't want to be lumped together with some other
marketers who use the 'oops bad link' e-mail as a
lame tactic to get more visitors to see their offers.

I value my subscribers attention so I take a lot of
care to make sure that I don't send out bad links
    etc.

Remember, if you want people to pay a lot of attention
to you, you need to first pay a lot of attention to
    them.

So, I'd say don't send out a separate e-mail about the
mistake. Maybe cover it in a P.S. in your next scheduled
    broadcast.

    Dedicated to your success,

    Shaun

Yeah, I agree with Shaun. The 'broken' link email is pretty common and I always just delete the message and take a mental note.

Just mention it in your next message and maybe laugh it off if your emails are usually relaxed - even just reiterate the link.

The problem was that it wasn't just a broken link, I made a mistake in my coding so that my code wasn't properly linking to the style sheet, and so the design of the page was off, making the site look UNprofessional. I'm so embarrassed that I feel I have to say something because I'm afraid that I look like some quack who doesn't care about his work.

But hey, if you guys say so......

It's nothing to fill embarrassed about, some of the biggest marketers do this. You would be suprised at how many I get each week.

The way they handle this is to send out an email and say
I sent you the wrong link.

        It happens.

    Hey ikelove,

Take the Frank Kern approach. Just fix the problem, make a test email account somewhere or use one of your own extra email accounts. Then send yourself a couple test email and of course click on the link to make sure it works. When all of this is done, Do this...

    In your email, simply put;

    "Hey all,

Don't I feel like the biggest goof on the net. My wires got crossed, resulting in a little snafu with the last email.

Here's the email again... with a working link. And just because everybody has been so cool about everything, a little further down the page of the email, you will find another link to something that I think you'll like. *** And It's Free ***

    Wait!

Do me a big favor. Before you rush down to get your free stuff :-)

Please click on the first link.

    Thanks

ikelove" (or what ever name you are using.)

    (People eat this stuff up.)

If you have already fixed the problem and resent the email... Just save this for something else. "Frank Kern uses this kind of thing in everything he does." That's why he so lovable. Even though he's a (freak n genius), he comes off as the guy you'd go to hangout with and have a few beers.

Are you blogging or using social media?

Tell the world that you're an idiot, it helps to build a relationship.

If the original link now works you don't need to include it in a follow-up message, and also if you thank the people who replied and told you about the glitch they will feel extra special.
