I have heard Alexa and many others say a million times that its important to own your own real estate. I guess this exemplifies that, still it REALLY sucks. Sorry to hear that, but congrats on making it work in the first place. You will do it again.

Damn, that sucks. I hope you regroup and start working to get back to where you were straight away. While this is obviously a huge setback, at least you're not back to square one in terms of knowledge and ability.

And BTW, let as people as possible know about what happened, because I (and others) keep warning people starting out not to get too invested in Blogger with the kind of blogs that Google doesn't like, but of course I still get to the odd "oh, I know someone with lots of blogs there and they're fine" response.

Sorry to hear that. But you do not own Blogger websites. They do.

Put your efforts into your own domains and hosting.

That must be very depressing. I'm very sorry to hear about that.

Do you have a backup? If not try and use Internet Archive: Free Movies, Music, Books & Wayback Machine
and see if you can copy and paste some of your posts to your
      new blog.

It is essential that you host your own Wordpress blog so that your
      content is safe.

Hope you have a speedy recovery!

You should only use free blogs/websites for the short term, not for the long term it is too risky.

Even if you are using paid domains/hosting, you must ALWAYS diversify and use multiple hosting providers and domain registration services for your websites.

It amazes me how many IM veterans still make this mistake and buy all their domains at one place, as well as their hosting. Crazy.

If you diversify and one screws you over you are still in the game, however if you put all your eggs in one basket and you get screwed you lose everything.

Maybe you should see this as a blessing in disguise, it is better it happened to you early on rather than further down the road.

If you've been maintaining a list of your prospects, which I hope you have, seeing as you had many blogs as you say, now would be the right time to send them a broadcast explaining the situation and that you're going to be sorting out new sites etc very soon.

Don't worry, nothing will become of it. Just get your own hosting, setup your own webspace as soon as possible and get your list subscribing or redirecting back to your new sites.

Hope everything works out for you.

    Cheers,
    Ange

Recycle your content (use the files from your hard drive), and get back up and running. Post your content to a Wordpress blog, free from GoDaddy if you buy your domain there (cheap), or to Squidoo or Hubpages (if it's original content only at Hubpages), etc.

Note: Not sure what you are selling or how, but see guidelines at whichever place you post. You may be focusing on content that is not allowed on the hosting sites like adult content or mass destruction weapons or something.

Oh wow, you must be devastated. I can only say what everyone else has said already that this is why it is so important to have paid hosting and your own domain. I know that doesn't help your situation, but make sure that when you start over you do so with your own website.

I can't believe no one has said this yet but did you appeal to the administration yet? I know plenty of people that had their blogs reinstated after a review so try that before you just write them off as lost.

I also second what other people are saying. As a way to start off earning, blogger and other free sites are fine. But once you start making money, you need to get yourself some domains and paid hosting so you are in control of your properties.

thanks for the advice. actually i have not tried to appeal because i guess it about time i use more of paid blogs than the free one.

in response to the people that asked what happened. all i know is all was deleted overnight without warning. though a friend on this forum once warned me that for exposing my blogger link of forum can get me barned so i guess its just a wake up call to ouse more of paid blogs.

Wrong. Blogger even makes it easy to set up AdSense advertising and Amazon affiliate ads on your blog.

You are probably thinking of free blogs hosted at wordpress.com, where it is true that you aren't supposed to have ads or promote products.

But regardless, they should have sent you a warning so you'd have time to backup/ copy your work.. Well that would have been the humane way for them to handle this situation before pulling the plug completely imo..
If your blog or web site is important to you, you will have a back up already. Even self-hosted sites can be lost without warning if the server they are on has a problem, or the site is hacked.

Unfortunately that's a lesson that many people (including me) have learned the hard way.

Sad to hear that Kinwall D= But all your marketing efforts are not wasted. If you manage to copy your sites into a new domain google will send the same traffic to those websites as if they were your blogger sites. They know that its the same site, just moved.

But as some of the people have said here, you need to get the content from your original sites either through the google cache or the way back machine.

I used to have a site on a subdomain and moved it to its own website. All the traffic from google stopped going to the original one and it moved to the new website.

Ouch Ouch Ouch... The only good thing is you are wise enough to start over and get back what you had quicker. But I would still cry for a whole day and then move forward the next day. It does unfortunately happen to people who use Blogger. A far too expensive lesson.

I hate to read posts like this, for two reasons:
One, I feel terribly for the poster who lost all their sites/income...

...and also I think it shows how marketers are foolishly relying on these 'free' hosts like Blogger and Squidoo and all the others. They cannot be depended on for squat!

I use Blogger a lot, but only to test out ideas and then roll them over into my owned domains and hosting. That, at least to me, is the only model that works when using Blogger.

He emailed google informing that his blog is not 'spam'. Shockingly, google restore his blog and rankings. It's been 3 months of that incident and now i can see his blog gone again.

Accept the fact and stop relying on google for living, Paid traffic costs but you are in control of that.

I'm sure you've made some money from your blogs and didn't have any expenses. I'd suggest doing it over again and starting with real sites and domains instead of free blogs. Anyways, good luck on your journey. I hope you fix it so you can earn big bucks again.

If you were making money then you should have taken the time ot transfer everything to a domain and do a redirect. However since that is no longer an option, perhaps you can contact blogger and see if they will at least allow you to get the info off of the blog (i'm sure it's still saved somewhere) If not and you don't have offline backups (always save the stuff you put online) then i'm afraid you may just have to cut your losses and start over.

Don't bet on it- sometime they do and sometimes they don't. My site- The Closeout Kid was deleted, and determined that is was spam after a manual check.

Now this was a completely legit site and I was not reinstated. You can look at it from my link- it's is pretty much the same site as I had on Blogger.

The problem is that free is so tempting when a wordpress site is going to cost at least $75-100 a year. And beyond that- when something is working for you it takes momentum to change it.

But people should take this as a warning- it you are making more that $100 a year off a site, you should probably move it off blogger. At minimum get a custom domain for $10 year so when they do delete it you can move the site and not lose traffic.

Don't think it can't happen to you.

See the thing is that "not violating blogger tos" is subjective. From some of the research I have done running any blog on blogger that is not deemed a "personal" blog- could be violating their rules.

I highly doubt that anyone here in the WF is worried about losing a personal blog on blogger- they are worried about money making blogs.

But here is the other thing- it is totally the subject of their whims if they put it back up or not. When I lost my blog several others in my niche did, too- some of theirs were reinstated while mine was not and there was no difference- just a different person who reviewed it.

            Hey Jenetta

            I understand your frustration, but...
it's Googles show. We're just players.

Also, you can appeal if you feel one

    So sorry to hear that!

Running websites and blogs for a profit is a business. And sometimes bad things happen in businesses. Just ask the hundreds of thousands of small business owners that have lost their business in the last few years.

I lost my bricks and mortar retail business and related ecommerce business as the recession gained steam. I Lost pretty much everything. 6 figures.

But I picked up and moved forward and looking back I learned so much and I am such a better business person for having owned that business that while I could have done things differently I have no regrets.

You will recover and move abead and become better for it if you allow yourself to.

Chin up. And take the advice of a lot of people that have posted on ways to try to recover the remaining assets (what portions of the l;ost blogs that you can) and rebuild what you can.

I would say look back to what you did and what happen and thi time make the necessary adjustments so you don't have to deal with this again. Maybe find another way, but under no circunstances do the same.

Man that really sucks. Thats why I started making sure I have everything hosted on my own domain. That kind of happened to me with squidoo. I was using them as my "money page" so to speak and when they changed their rules, they took down my page. All the work I had done driving traffic to that site was just gone. I was making quite a few sales every single day from the lens. And then just gone. So I am now a firm believer in hosting everything on my own domain.

if it was workin keep goin, do what you was doin make a new account, but spread your efforts across other hosting platforms, and yes I would definately consider your own, but sounds like you had abit of a hit n run thing goin on, where cost of domain and hosting may not justify the money earned in clicks or commissions.

If you don`t have backup from your content, than there is a good chance that you can still find them in Google cache. (you need to act fast, couse it will be deleted permamently soon) Like this you can save them and start a new blog on your own domain. Also try to look at the bright side, you still have the skill to build profitable websites, and you can not lose that one

So sorry to hear that Kinwall. BUT HAVE NO FEAR. Been in a similar spot.

This may not be able to get your offers back and you will have to recreate the payment buttons.

BUT, I would try going to all of your blogs domains (assuming you do know all of the addresses).

AND try to get the actual content back by doing a GOOGLE CACHED VIEW. If they were indexed long enough you should be able to retrieve them all.

I hope this works for you and let me know.

I am so sorry for you, I had a blog that was wiped away from blogger as well. That is why I invested in making my own websites. I didn't want to take a risk of me investing so much into something and then suddenly it is taken down. So now I have about 5 websites that I purchased with GoDaddy and hosting them with HostGator. I also have Wordpress on all of them and building them to make a long term success with. I hope everything turns out all right with you..

"I just lost everything today" - You gained a valuable lesson and your business will become stronger because of it.

      Hi Kinwall,

As others have expressed - you lost some blogs and the income stream for now, but the ability to do what you did - create and monetize content is something no one can take away from you.

It is a tough lesson - maybe you can get them reinstated, but probably best not to get your hopes up. Now you can move forward creating properties you own and control and use platforms like blogger for the purpose of gaining additional exposure and links.

      Best of luck,

      Elise

I lost 4 blogspot blogs in 2009 and until today I feel a pain in my heart when I remember them. Nobody helped me get them back. And they were very helpful for the public.

A hacker got my passwords and infected them with malware. I was a victim, but Google didn't care about learning what had happened.

Now I have only one blog at Blogger and I use it only for traffic. I promote only my Wordpress blog, which is in my own domain name.

40 blogs is really a very big loss! I'm revolted with Blogger's indifference. We waste our precious time and our efforts creating nice things, but they are not our propriety because we have used a free platform.

However, many other people do the same without any problem. They use free blogs for years and years, and nothing happens to them. So, we tend to believe that will be among the lucky ones.

This is a false conception. Everybody online must understand very well how dangerous these free platforms are. We should all abandon these free platforms until they would make us feel safe enough in order to spend our precious time and energy using them.

It's also a lesson for me to be careful. I do have a few free blogs on blogger ... although not necessarily intended for making money.

All may not be lost yet. (fingers crossed)

Have you tried to do a site: search on your blogs at Google, Yahoo, and BING to see if you can grab your content via the cached page?

It may take a little work, but you could just get back all the content you created and repost into your own blog/domain.

    Have you tried this yet?

Don't tell us with 40 blogs you never bothered to build a list?!?

I hate to bust your chops if it's true, but it SOUNDS awfully fishy that you ONLY have blogs and no lists, email OR social, you market to?!?

If it IS true, 40 blogs is a tough hit, but you should be able to generate income with your lists while you rebuild. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start hammerin' at it!

It stinks. I know. Google did that to me a few months ago. There one day & gone the next. I also had the $100 of "free" advertising through them for PPC. Then I got a call from my credit card company about charges to my account - $10 here, $20 there. They were from Google for advertising.

I'm still trying to get credit for those, months later.

That's why I advise everyone who's trying to get started online...

Get your own domain and hosting!!!

blogspot/blogger belongs to google... your own domain/hosting belongs to you...

Yes you need to pay a little every month... but it's definitely worth it!

Now what you can do is try and email google and wait about a month (that's what happened a long time ago when I first had my blogs on blogspot and encountered problems) to see if things get resolved... if not, worse case scenario is to learn from your lesson and start from scratch... but don't worry... you don't actually start from nothing...

You start from the knowledge you already acquired! And that's a better place to start than a complete newbie right?

Sorry to hear - this hurts.

Let me provide you a solid plan - and please do double-check whether all of it is legit since I don't know the ToS well enough at that level, but just letting my thought out off the hat as quickly as I can to give you the best of chances.

Type in your address - whatever.blogspot.com - if that does not work (gives you error) then see if you can grab that subdomain once more.

Repeat this for all your lost blogger blogs.

      Use content from cache.

Once you get back the content, invest the next part of your time to get a domain (for each of your blogger sites).

Then, create a set of folders with the same names as in your blogger. So if you have foobargarbage.blogger.com/august/post1 then create foobargarbage.com/august.post1 and so on.

Finally, add a HTML/Javascript to your blogger and see if you can use that to redirect a standard form of HTML redirection code. Remove all the posts that you had from blogger. This will act like a moved domain.

Now, keep building your backlinks only to the newer domain. Forget that you had your old blogger domains.

Once again, please do carefully double-check that all of this is in ToS - I don't know myself (for example, redirecting empty blogs, recreating the same blog using your old blogger account and so on). If this works and is legit, great. If not, see if some variation of this helps.

Could I help your business? Hope I could.
