How accurate is a site like this in determining how much traffic a site gets?

I'm looking at a few niches that have caught my eye, so I'd like to know how much traffic the authority sites in those niches are getting each month. If I plug the domains into the site above, will it give me an accurate snapshot of how much traffic sites are actually seeing?

If not, where might I find such info if not from the site owners themselves?

    Neiter Alexa nor compete can provide you with accurate date.

    If there is ANY site out there I'd love to know about it...but I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

    All those sites can give you are very rough estimates as The Dotcom Hippie already pointed out.

    quantcast.com has a javascript code that you plugin and they read visitors off the site like analytics does. So if the site has the code on it, they will be reasonably accurate, compare that to compete or alexa to get a feeling for accuracy
