ClickBank Rejected My Product - Why?

Hello.

I have just received an e-mail from ClickBank saying that my product could not be approved and they were not given reasons from the person who reviewed it - basically, they can't tell me why...

The site is ScriptSelling101 and I thought that the reason might be because I'm using a membership script (InstantMember) to handle purchases?

Few things that I'm thinking about, please let me know if I'm on the right track:
1. I wrote 30 days money back guarantee while CB offers 60.
2. My payment button does not redirect straight to CB but takes the customer to a signup form.
3. I have a coupon code that I'm offering.
4. The thank you page can only be seen after a successful purchase, if you access it directly you'll see a payment error.

Please help me, I want to resubmit my product but want to make sure I do everything properly.

Thanks!

Since the only one who can tell you why your product was rejected (all
guesses here are just that...guesses) why don't you just call them up and
    ask them?

I find it puzzling that they gave you no reasons especially since your
guarantee IS against their TOS. I just recently got a product rejected
because I forgot to change my guarantee to coincide with theirs, but at
least they told me what the problem was.

So as to why they gave you no reasons at all, or as far as the other
possibilities, like I said, we'd just be guessing.

    Call them up and ask.

If the issue was #1 they would simply inform you to change your MBG text to comply with CB T&C

There is no major issue with point (2), that's quite common as CB currently offers no way to keep in contact with your clients, so a pre or post signup page is very common so vendors can sell to clients on the backend, - again no issue

    3) Moot point.

    4) They would simply ask you to provide the thank you page.

The issues you have are that your payment page in no way complies with their rules, I suggest you go and read them, they are very clear but I suspect this runs deeper because typically CB will notify you of issues like that and they are very specific on what you need to add/remove.

It's something else they don't like.

I would give them a ring, say you don't know what the problem is and ask for some advice.

#1 you definitely need to fix. They really dislike guarantee statements that don't match their own (too long, too short, strings attached, etc.)

#2 & 3 - not sure if those are issues since I haven't done those with CB.

#4 doesn't seem like an issue - it seems like the same thing you'd see if using something like DLGuard.

Have you made a test purchase to make sure it leads to the actual download page?

Also ask them if there was anything else they did not like.

      .
That's correct, but they would tell you to fix it, not refuse to give him feedback as to why his site was refused.

Having set up more CB accounts than I can care to remember, I'm yet to face a blank response from them as why they declined a site/product/ammendment.

They are usually very helpful and precise.

I always find the phone vastly superior than email when dealing with CB.

    I have updated few things:
    1. Removed the coupon code.
    2. Removed my "ClickBank101" guide that was offered as a bonus.
    3. Set the refund guarantee to 60 days.

I will resubmit the site and hope they'll approve it now.

    Thanks!

This is the e-mail I received from them:
    Hello,

Thank you for your interest in ClickBank. After review of your site, our Security Chief has determined that we are unable to accept this product. We are not given reasons for the decline.

Any references to ClickBank (the name, logo, icons and marks identifying the Company's products and services) must be removed from your website since your product/service has been declined. Hi shreder,

Maybe it wasn't something specific that made Clickbank reject your site.

Maybe it was the culmination of things like ... they didn't care for the spelling mistakes,

Here's waht you'll find out in thei MUST-READ chapter:
Or the obvious use of a template driven system

edit this page contents from admin side...
Or that this product is or has apparently been for sale elsewhere,

    Script Selling Secrets

Or maybe they watched your site for three days and decided that this statement was not true,

Hurry up because I'm telling you now, this offer will NOT last long! I have already used few of my advertising techniques mentioned in the report and I expect to receive about 30 sales/day! This means that the special offer will run out in approximately 3 days!
Given that Clickbank has made it clear that they are not interested in selling your product by not giving reasons and also asking you to remove any references to Clickbank, I suspect your chances of selling your product on Clickbank are slim to none.

OK, that email means they had some problem with the content of your product or sales letter, and this is not the first time I've heard them being vague about it and referring to some "security" person. Not sure what security has to do with it. Shouldn't he be making sure their building or computers don't get broken into?

It could be your income screenshots that they don't like, or your mention of Facebook, MySpace, etc. I once had a product rejected because it had the word "MySpace" in it, just a mention of the site, not teaching anything about it.

This is why I generally don't bother submitting new products there- they don't respect their vendors enough to treat them like adults.

Dave, I doubt spelling and similar things have anything to do with it, but of course, I'd fix that, too. That email was their standard non-answer that I've seen before.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but it seems that like you said that you...

"Removed my "ClickBank101" guide that was offered as a bonus"

And they clearly stated in this message you posted they had a problem with you using "Clickbanks" name without written consent...

I do not see confusion in all of this? Shreder isnt this the reason why they wouldnt accept it?

    Hey.
Thank you all for your replies.

The book has never been sold before, the link dwooding referred to is the portfolio of the person who wrote the sales letter for me.

The special offer ends in 3 days text - That's not possible, I've only requested the approval yesterday and they rejected it today.

    Few modifications I've done:
    1. Removed the myspace,facebook names
    2. Removed the footer sample text (It was auto generated by InstantMember).
    3. Fixed the spelling mistakes I've found.

elitemarketer - I think their reference to removing their name from my site is only because they rejected it, and I can't use their name after they rejected my product.

I have resubmitted it about an hour ago, I hope to get it approved this time as I honestly don't see a reason why it shouldn't be accepted now.
I fear that the fact that I'm using a Membership script for the delivery of the product may be the reason why they rejected my product...

    thank you all!

The person approving the product needs to be able to access your product in the first place. If you are going to re-submit it, remove any download page security until AFTER it has been approved (if it does get approved, that is).

It's probably got a lot to do with the money making claims, which the FTC would probably frown upon, such as:

"Need An Easy Guaranteed Way to Make Money In The Coming Recsssion"

You can't guarantee that someone will make money, and the mention of 3 grand in the title wouldn't be helping either.

These days you've got to be careful about financial claims on your sales page.

    Perhaps try rewording it?

This may be way off base, but think about this. You are selling scripts that teach others how to sell scripts. Then you offer a Clickbank product. If I were the paranoid type, this might sound a little black hat or unethical to me. Maybe they think you are trying to teach people how to cheat the system.

I know this sounds weird, but I've known stranger things to happen.

    Here are a few suggestions:

    1. Add this text at the bottom of all your pages:

"ClickBank is a registered trademark of Keynetics Inc., a Delaware corporation. YourSite.com is not affiliated with Keynetics Inc. in any way, nor does Keynetics Inc. sponsor or approve any YourSite.com product. Keynetics Inc. expresses no opinion as to the correctness of any of the statements made by YourSite.com in the materials on this Web page."

... once they accept the product you can remove this text (I don't think they check your site again...)

    2. Your "Thank You" page MUST have this (or very similar) text:

Dear customer. Please notice that your credit card statement will show a charge from Clickbank*com

    ... personal experience.

well...the odd thing is that they didnt tell him that.

I had several products approved, and the CSR told me to add the "Disclaimer" as well as change the wording for the thankyou page, minor things.
But they always told me...i fixed those and my sites got approved. Thats why i think it must be something else why they dont like his product.

Also...always use a simple "unprotected" thankyou/download page first....and once everything is approved you can plug DLG on it to protect the links. Just dont make things complicated BEFORE your site is approved.

    Add:

I did NOT read your whole page...but i quickly spotted another problem:

You talk badly about (at least) three competing products and name them even. Especially if those products are on CB..this would certainly not be in their favor to claim that those products are "bad".

Furthermore i think you might have had better success being more "secretive" and market this as a business model (without spilling the beans aka "script selling").....i dont know, that "script selling" things sounds odd to me..but it MIGHT be doable to reveal this IN the book and not make this is the actual "sales pitch"...

Also...you added a 2checkout screenshot, AFAIK those are direct competition to CB, so, not really the best way to get into CB's favor either.

And "script selling" to me now sounds like...go and search for PLR packs, or even w#rez.. put them into a zip and sell them on dubious webmaster sites for profit, something like that.

So..there are probably several factors which didnt work in your favor.

Clickbank are fully aware of DLGuard and how it works, so unless you get a really new customer support person, they should be fine giving the okay to DLGuard protected products.

I'd say in this case it's the mention on guaranteed profits as well as talking about "how to make money" that got it rejected.

I've dealt with Melissa many times, listen, this is not an issue over:

      Spelling
      Incorrect Warantee Length
Lack of available thank you page visibility

      etc etc.

If it was anything as standard as that they would simply tell you, the issue is within the comment about "security".

This means that the approval team of which Melissa is one of them has not even been given the chance to review the site for issues such as whether a CB logo is displayed correctly etc.

You have an issue that runs deeper than that, and I strongly suggest you simply pick up the phone and ring them, you'll find your answer on the phone, not by going back and forth trying to guess what the hell is going on.

      My 2 cents..

I have removed all the "Guaranteed" stuff from the sales letter.

Alex Sol - I have added the ClickBank charge statement sentence you told me to add, I honestly forgot about it.

rodtyler - I don't know what you understood from the sales letter but I'm not selling a "Script" that teaches others how to sell scripts, it's an eBook I'm selling which teaches them.

I don't have a ClickBank logo or anything like that on my site, I don't see a reason why they should decline it because of Copyright issues...

rodtyler - you're jumping the gun on this one as well
cyberon - I'm currently chatting with a security representative named Sheri, I hope she'll be able to explain why.

What I think might have happened is this:
About a month ago, I purchased an eBook selling site form a member on DP. He also offered his ClickBank account that was already setup with the product.

Before buying the site I e-mailed ClickBank if it's ok to take over the site and they said it's fine.

So I purchased the site and took over the account.
What I suspect is THAT the clickbank account had some sort of an issue related to it, not sure why it is but I'm afraid that that's the account they are referring to.

I told them the story but for some reason they keep asking me who that person is. I keep telling them I do not know him personally and he is just a person whom I purchased the site from.

I hope this will all be over soon and my product will get approved.

    Thank you all once again!

Didn't they charge a fee for changing the payee, the same as for opening a new account?

Now you know not to do that again, since you inherit any bad history from that account.

If their next answer is still a rejection without explanation, I'd wait a while, create a new account, and try submitting again, since the old account may still be flagged. You won't have to pay unless they approve it.

Further to this suggestion ClickBank has now stated
The only time our Security Department does not provide exact
details around why a particular product is declined is when
there is a security issue of some kind. Some examples
include publishers that want to sell products from a country
that we do not accept, and publishers who have been

If it is not a security issue, the Product Approval Team

I am HAPPY to announce that the issue has now been resolved.
I had "Sheri" from "Clickbank Security" help me and finally approved my product.

The issue was with the other account I received and a $50 fee that should have been paid.

Thank you all and I wish you all good luck!

Thank you Harvey for sharing that information.
I must admit, "Sheri" from ClickBank has been really helpful.
I even managed to raise my payment limit to $70 with her help...

Thank you all for taking the time to help me on this issue.
I hope this thread will be useful for other members as well.
