you don't need clickbank...

Hey Warriors!

I think I saw one-too-many threads today promoting ClickBank and how everyone should be making the big-bucks on CB. I really wanted to make a post, and an admission.

Today, I have never made a PENNY in Clickbank. Total: $0.00.000

And I'm successful (semi) in marketing. So why does everyone start with CB, when there are so many other opportunities out there.

If you look around, there are so many other things you can do.. Affiliate marketing is not the only way.

HOWEVER, ClickBank is good, and I'm learning... But, I'm just saying, it's not the only way to go.

    Hey Caleb

Its true that Clickbank is not the only one and I have stated to use 2 checkout a lot more.

The reason most of us use clickbank is they take care of the payment side for us which is a big plus. 2 Checkout also do this now so a good alternative

We have used other systems also but in most cases we have to do the payments usually through Paypal mass payment. When you take in the time to check the payments etc sometimes it is just not worth it.

i've been asking that as well for ages - why is it always clickbank and digital products? I mean, I know CB provides high commissions, but from my studies so far, there's more places.

Caleb, you still do your blogs and domain flipping?

I have been seriously into IM for a little more than 2 years now. I didn't do much with Clickbank until a couple of months ago. I found a couple of great products that are sold for a great price, and I make a great return. I put a weeks worth of work into setting up my campaign, and then spend an hour or so every week looking at ways to tweak it and make it a little better. All this and I am making between $500 - $1000 a week. My only regret is that I would have done more with Clickbank sooner.

        hi Caleb,

I guess as a amateur, clickbank is one of easiest platform for a quick start. Many other avenues probably need more IM skill which newbie like me are not equip, I wish i could find other methods soonest. cheers!

I have made allot of money in the past with both ClickBank and 2 Check Out. But now all of a sudden ClickBank Doesn't want to let me sell a product of mine for $147. After all these years, they still want to keep me down to $100 or below.

And 2 Check Out, forget it. Their book keeping is atroshish, not to mention they don't back up the vendors even one little bit. Even when it is obvious that the customer is lying about making a purchase. I can't tell you how many times I have been ripped off because 2CO refused to have a backbone.

I gave up using ClickBank and 2CO all together and am now trying out PayDotCom.com. I like it so far, but the owner, Mike Filesieme, or what ever his name is, sends way to many emails about "the latest product" that I can't do without.

I totally agree Caleb, I think there's tons of ways other than Clickbank.

I DO like using it as a means of seeing what's selling, and using it for trends or ideas, especially cbengine.com. I also like using Clickbank products as a means of testing niches, usually with PPC.

But, my end goal here is to create my own product in that niche and position myself as the product owner, so the Clickbank involvement is only temporary.

Still, I think it can be a good place to start for people. I've made thousands with it personally, and don't see that going away any time soon, but yeah there are other routes.

Most of the affiliate programs I promote are hosted by the vendor and my favorites are those run using Infusionsoft.

The reason I prefer these -- simple quite often you get cookied for a year or a lifetime and get paid on ALL backend sales. With Clickbank I think most affiliates are only thinking about making the initial upfront commission (big launches are an exception ... eg. Mobile Monopoly, Google Sniper etc).

But you shouldn't write off Clickbank -- there are some cracking products on there.

I've promoted clickbank in my life, and never actually converted, so I've just stayed away and not promoted CB products....

newbies (i did, too) start with CB because there is no approval process, and you do not need your own domain...

so you can start off at blogspot or squidoo or weebly...

i sold one cb product once...

exactly a week later, the client refunded.

i lost my motivation, and turned to share-a-sale...

which has been sending me checks...

and since paypal came to south africa, i started looking at instant commission products...

if it had been available when i started, i would probably never have tried CB

i remember (back then) scraping the web for "instant commission affiliate program"....

and swearing every time the word "paypal" came up.....

so, heck, yes, there are better (imho) options out there - with less competition as well

I have only had minimal success with CB. However, this was how I made my first couple hundred bux as an IM several years ago.

However, at current, I only use CB sparingly. They are reputable and will pay you, however, it does suck waiting for that 'first check'.

I now look for MRR products that I can resell and keep all the profits and also share profits with Affiliates of my own. I also use PayDotCom.com for some of my products (as a vendor) and some for affiliate products.

I like the 'instant money' that I can get in my PayPal account and use it the same day (my bank account is linked so I can transfer it right away). Granted paying affiliates using a Mass Pay can be a hassle, but thats just part of business. My delivery company has a sweet file that I can download for mass pay's and this makes it rather simple to pay my affiliates.

However, I think CB is so popular b/c they are reliable and very easy to use and get started, but CB can be saturated especially when looking for IM products. But I've found some great products with a little research on CB that were easy to sell.

Also, someone mentioned getting too many emails from PDC, I should add that you can choose to not receive these emails and I never get them. However, now that i think about it, it may be because I signed up as a vendor first, rather than an affiliate.

Currently, I mostly just use CB for references to products in Free eBooks that I give my list and rarely for PPC or mailing promo's. Alot of this had to do with people stealing commissions b/c CB urls are easily recognized. Although, CB now offers a cloaking service you have to actually be on the site and hit the 'promote' button to do this. Also, even after being cloaked smarter folks may still realize they can sign up as an affilate and buy from their own link.

My newest strategy is to create niche blogs and using adsense. The goal is to only generate a $1 a day from each blog. This is a slow method, because it takes time to get indexed and get some traffic, but can easily lead to a passive 'residual' income once put into action.

I can normally create a new blog and set it up w/a months worth of articles (scheduled to be posted daily) in a few hours or less (depending on quality of articles and how much work I have to do to get them 'right'). If you set up a blog a week you would have over 50 at the end of the year. Using the $1 a day prediction (some will make much more) you could easily add an extra $1,500 a month. This won't make me rich but is a great way to start for newbies and an awesome way to add an extra income stream for the experienced marketers. Also, you could use CB, PDC, or whatever in your blogs as well.

*note* I don't monetize these blogger blogs until they are indexed, this decreases the risk of them being 'flagged' and possibly deleted. However, if one gets deleted, it isn't a huge loss as you should have several more to rely on.

    Hope someone finds this helpful.
here are three most recent blogs - notice these are not monetized yet since they are not indexed.
Parakeet Paradise - How to Care for, Breed, and Train Your Parakeets - parakeet niche
    http://training-my-ferret.blogspot.com - ferret niche
Bass Fishing Paradise - Bass Fishing niche

All these were created using PLR articles (parakeet niche is exception, some are borrowed (w/credit given of course) due to being hard to find info on parakeets lol)

Good luck to all! Think outside the box. Other ways to make money than CB.

For me it is about MSI (Multi source of income). I always seek any opportunities that are created through internet whether it is clickbank/affiliates programs, CPA, flipping websites, blogging etc. The only thing I can manage because I hace created a team of people that want to learn and making bucks together. I get 70% and they get 30% what I do is to show them step by step to monetize. Then it will be autopilot. :-)
