Launching my first product! PayDotCom or CB?

Wish me lucky everyone.

I am getting ready to launch my own product (be excited!)

But I'm having a difficult time deciding between ClickBank or PayDotCom. I know many here use ClickBank the most; but PayDotCom offers a free listing if its your first...

Is it worth the extra money to go through CB? Or does it not really make a difference?

On Clickbank you're more likely to hit the jackpot, if you get a lot of sales quickly and high gravity a lot of affiliates tend to pop out of nowhere and start promoting you.

I know a guy who made a nice living for around 3 years off ONE small launch by promoting a $47 piece of software via Clickbank, after the initial launch he did nothing - affiliates kept promoting the software month after month.

Personally, I'd choose Clickbank. I have heard lots of good things about them and not much that wasn't good. Good luck with your launch!

CB would be the best option.

    Clickbank
Pros : No need to worry about handling payments
    Large number of affiliates
You don't have to worry about maintaining payments made to affiliates ( You may need to identify affiliates for tax purposes)Clickbank is paying affiliates directly.

    Cons :
    Setup fee
Product activation only after manual approval
You don't know details about affiliates like their email etc.

    Paydotcom

    Pros : Free to setup
    Instant product approval
Get paid instantly to pay-pal when buyer buys product

    Cons :
*You need to identify affiliates (for tax purposes) as you are paying them(paypeopleonline.com) directly.(They have a service called paypeopleonline.com .
    This page explains it :
    https://paypeopleonline.com/how-it-works.php
But you have to pay them around 29$ initially to create vendor account.)

For a newbie clickbank would be the best option.

Out of those 2, I would defiantly go with clickbank but you also consider Rap (Rapid Action Profits) this has a slightly different system that pays your affiliates immediately at the point of sale.

In my opinion Rap is the going to grow incredibly in the near future

My summary: As an affiliate, go for PDC. As a vendor, stick to CB, although I have to agree with Tomwood, RAP is definitely a platform to look out for in the near future..

Is clickbank just for digital products? I have a physical manual that I'd like to use affiliates for, is the only way to contact affiliates directly or can I do this with clickbank/other site?

That's awesome. I hope someday I get to creating my first product for CB or paydotcom.

Thanks for the great info on clickbank paying affiliates. I believe, that will save a tremendous amount of time. By not having to pay your own affiliates.

Do you need to promote your clickbank product on your own? Or you can simply put your product up there and you'll get notice and sales? instantly?

it's better to promote it yourself. affiliates will promote it if the site looks professional and you recruit them. provide them tools like banner ads, articles, emails to send to their lists. now some of them won't need or want to use your tools, but for others you want to make it as easy as possible to promote your product. However I wouldn't just assume that by putting my product in the marketplace that affiliates will just come running.

In my experience it depends on what niche you are going after. unfortunately, in the make money niche ClickBank is a magnet for serial refunders. They know they can purchase the product and get a refund without any hassle From ClickBank. So, if your product has anything to do with the make money niche I would stay away from them. I am not saying this so you can dodge legitimate refund request, I am saying this because there are people that will buy ClickBank products for the sole purpose of just getting them free.

  • Since this is your first product, your priority should not to make a bunch of money but to build a solid base of affiliates and customers. And, for that purpose, nothing beats Clickbank.
