How to save a PDF Document the best way....

Sorry for crazy question, I have done so so may times without even thinking about it and now I need to come up with instructions of how to do this for my download page on my website I've a mental block for a second.

I thought you just...........

Right click on the file name once.

2. A menu will pop up. Select "Save Target As..."

3. Window will appear asking you where you would like to save the PDF file.

Ok, just to explain, I have my free guide ready to download in Aweber and when I downloaded it and tried to save I right clicked and an option 'to save' didn't show up. I could only save by using the save icon in the tool bar. Should there be a better way my visitors can save this free guide?

Any help appreciated. thanks!

Are you trying to get people to save it from inside the actual e-mails?

If so, what you need to do is upload the PDF to a webpage and put a link to the webpage in your e-mails.

Many e-mail services will simply block downloading direct from an e-mail.

      Hi oneplusone,

I am new to this but this is what I have done.

Prospect receives 1st confirmation email after opt-in. They click on confirmation link in this email where a download page appears from my website for the free guide. I have then listed some instructions to download with a link to the free PDF file. Once I clickedlink, it opened fine but when I right clicked I couldn't save, as mentioned I could only by using the save icon in the bar. I just thought if I right clicked some 'save as' option or 'save target' as etc would appear?!

I just don't know what to write in my download instructions now...

      Any help appreciated. Thanks again

Moneyland, you have to right click on the actual link.

You don't left click the download link, that just opens the PDF up.

As soon as your mouse pointer is hovering over the link, you immediately right click - you don't left click as that just downloads the PDF.

Once you're on the download page:

    1) Hover the mouse pointer over the download link
    2) Then press the right mouse button
    3) Then choose "Save Target As"

If I've understood you correctly this should work.

I think your mistake is actually clicking the download link, which opens the PDF up.

      oneplusone,

You are so right. I knew it, I really was having a crazy moment there. I do this so automatically and then 'blank' when I had to think about it step-by-step for my customers.

Cheers you have been a great help!

If you Zip the pdf, and link to the zip instead - the browser will automatically begin the download when the link is clicked (whether from an email or webpage)

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.
