Wordpress Membership Site?

What plugins do you recommend for making Wordpress into a membership site? I am looking for a plugin that will do the following:

1) Manage payments through Paypal and other services
2) Lock unregistered users from the entire folder
3) Provide users with an account that they can save/follow articles with
4) Integrate with an autoresponder

Anyone use a plugin or set of plugins that can do all of these things?

  • I would only use PROVEN membership software the is better then a plug in!!! Use EASY MEMBER PRO!!!! I am not even pushing an affiliate link... I think the software is killer out of the box!!!! It is cheap and you can install it in minutes and be up and running with some nice graphics and content.... My opinion and it is shared by THOUSANDS who use it besides me! The support is KICK BUTT and that means a ton...

  • Nearly every plugin out there does what you're asking. Without knowing your exact needs, a review is worthless. I personally tested every plugin I posted and settled on Wishlist. But does that really help you? No. It doesn't because my business model is unique to me.

    For example, do you need upsells? Then DAP is it. But it's very pricey.
    Do you need Authorize.net? Then S2Member won't cut it.

    Give us a budget, detailed requirements and more insight and you'll get better answers beyond the Google.

  • For once I'm not going to push the merits of Your Members, but I will echo BlueSquare's comments, what you are looking for should be possible with any of the established membership plugins, the differences between them are in the subtleties.

    My advice is take some time and check out how closely each one fits your needs, the price (these vary massively and expensive doesn't always mean good), how often it's been updated, it's security history (only today there is a buzz on twitter about one of them exposing protected content with certain common themes), their response to changes in WordPress (at least one broke quite impressively when 3.0 came out and they took rather a while to fix it) and their support and interaction with customers.
