Warriors, I Need Your Expertise Advice Please!

I few month back I asked Warriors for advice on promoting my relative's small business, and had an amazing result with some of the suggestions that I got.

Now he gets about 70-80 of highly targeted visitors per month, which would be great, even if it had 2-5% conversion(i.e. make the call) but it is more like 0.5-1% right now.

And I think a lot of it has to do with a crappy job that I did setting up the site. ( I was too exited to start doing IM stuff, building links etc).

So anyway, now I realized that I need to go back to the drawing board, and re-design the site, as a Warrior would.

I was hoping that you guys could give me some tips on what I should do first to improve the conversion.

Some of the things I thought of doing, is changing the coupon to something more attractive ( 25% off, or Buy 1 oil change get 1 free).

Also to add email sign up form, and give away a free report.

I am also thinking to embed a video on the main page of the site. Or should I put it on the separate page?

Or maybe even convert the site to one page / squeeze king of site, but I afraid it will harm your SEO ranking.

Anyway, any feedback will be appreciated!

Here is the site: San Jose Truck Repair | Semi Truck Service | BIT CA Inspection

Thank you in advance!

Currently that site has a sort of generic "listings site" type feel. The first thing I would do is make the site look more personal. Add some real looking photos of your friend/premises/vehicles.

As an example, a client of mine recently told me that a customer told her that, of the three businesses in her niche in her town, her site was the only one that made her look as if she knew what she was doing. The site is full of real photos of her real business. The others used more surreal/generic pics.

The site doesn't win awards for design - it shows what she really does. As I often say, "people buy people" - if the site makes the business look as if it is run by real people offering a personalised service, people will buy.

Then - add all the things you've suggested.

You need a more compelling headline... 'We Come To You' might be part of it but you're going to have to build in a strong benefit, something that sets you apart from other truck service businesses and makes the reader want to find out more. Figure out one special thing (other than the mobile service) that you offer and lead with that.

Have a brainstorming session where you come up with lots of benefits that set you apart from other truck service businesses. Honesty comes to mind first. One thing that's on the mind of anyone having a vehicle serviced is the integrity of the business. If you've got testimonials as to the integrity of the mechanic, get them right up front in the beginning.

Something that will help a lot is the testimonial of a customer who had been to another mechanic and was told he needed to spend a small fortune to fix a major problem. Then he came to your shop and found out it was really only a minor repair. Stuff like that goes a long way in building the integrity of your business.

Then gather all of the benefits of using your service and create a list of bullet points and get it above the fold. Good luck!

When you spoke of "conversion rate", the easiest and smartest thing to do to increase it is to capture names and continue to market to them.

I think your priority would be to include an opt-in form and autoresponder software like Aweber. Give something of value and continue to market to your list forever.

    Conversion to the MAX!

    Hope that helps!

Definitely put a lead capture in there, also make them a facebook fan page with FBML landing page.

Make a separate section for video testimonials from happy customers. Video testimonials help spreading word of mouth and also increase conversions. Put them in yahoo, google etc local maps if they aren't already there, and try to get some reviews on those and paste the reviews on the site (good reviews really help)

Nice domain name and I noticed you already ranked for your targeted keyword, that's great. I would recommend you use Google Optimizer I believe it's called but you can use it and put google's special code. On google optimizer you can have 2 different text versions/lines. So you actually have google tool track to see which call to action is better.

I would add yourself to yelp and put a yelp thing there with your customers reviews.
I would specifically promote an internet coupon for new customers that come from the internet. You have to be willing to take a loss to get a new customer that has the potential to shop their forever as long as they live in your city.

You could even expand your target reach by doing more in depth keywords such as. Truck Tune Up San Jose, Truck Engine Repair San Jose, San Jose Truck Tune Up, etc. Every single service you offer with san jose front/back of it, etc.

You would have to build actual pages with content so you can rank those inner pages for the keywords too. You can even outsource the writing to let's say, my own service below in my signature, lol. Sorry for plug.

I'd also see if you can pull any customers from craigslist. Anyways, that's all I know. Hopefully it helped you.

I'm not an expert in any way except in one area ... if there is a typo on a page, that's precisely where my eye lands and it makes me feel like the rest of the page (and business) is unprofessional.

It's operation, not opperation. And maybe running a spellcheck would be a good idea.

I know this is a nit, but some of us old school folks still believe in spelling.

I guest I have a lot to learn, the site looks great. However, if it's not doing what it's suppose to do, than you have to make changes.
