Best "program" for totals noobs?

by Puff The Magic Madman 26 replies
First post! Woot!
Anyways to be short and sweet, I have been laid off recently (imagine that) and have alot of free time on my hands (and my free time i mean time awake) I have purchased a couple scams in this time that did nothing more than point and laugh at me for buying into their bs.
I stumbled across this site last night and have been reading threads since then. I see a lot of good reviews on products but I am looking for some advice from some of the "higher tier" members here on which program is the best for a total noob. And which Marketing strategy is best (PPC, Affiliate, ect..) I have a lot of time and determination to put into this also, though not much cash to put into it. Any help/advice would be great!
Thanks in advance

I suggest niche sites. Since you're new, go with Amazon products. Once you get the hang of it, you could try to get in some of the CPA networks and build sites for their offers.

    Method is the same

Keyword research and competitive assessment to find good niches
    Build site and content
    Back links to rank

I DID write a very thorough guide on this whole process

    Good luck!

I think affiliate marketing is a great place for a newbie to start - it's not terribly difficult to learn or implement. You could always move on to other methods later if you want to experiment.

I'm still a newbie myself but I'll try help you out.

If you had a small bit of cash to get started, you could maybe get started using PPC. (Facebook, Google Adwords etc) The thing is that you need to test, track and test for a campaign to even become semi successful, and if you don't know what you're doing, you could use alot of cash. You could promote what you wanted on Adwords whether it be affiliate programs from Clickbank, CPA offers or anything else. This is apparently where the big money is and what I'm trying to get into. There are people on here making a fortune with PPC > CPA.

A second option that maybe is doing the same but with organic search traffic from search engines, article websites, youtube etc. People are making a decent amount of money from this.

Another thing you could consider is building a targeted email list and once you have a decent amount of optins on it, you could do some adswaps with members of this forum to expand your list and start to bring in the cash. (Check joint ventures section)

One more thing that popped into my head is to invest in a established website but this may not be suitable fo you, depending on how much cash you are able to invest on the whole internet marketing thing. Websites on average, usually sell for 10-12x their monthly revenue.

Sorry if this just sounded like a load of babble. Hope it helps though.

        Hey Puff,

You can see why the WF is so awesome! All of these replies are great.

No matter what direction you decide to go, I would recommend not spending any money on "how to" stuff. Only spend money on tools that will save you time, and help you get more done.

You can find a ton of free "how to" stuff here on the WF and elsewhere. Getting it done, however, sometimes requires having the right tools, i.e. software, auto-responder, link building, advertising/promotion, bookmarking, article distribution, video, etc.

        Best wishes.

For mentoring and education I like Chris Farrell... He has LOTS of free resources on his membership site... Start with 'A Successful Web Business Explained' and see what gets yer tail waggin...

I tried several membership sites for waaay more $$$ per month than Chris was asking... and the way the information was presented really worked for me!

Try to settle on ONE THING, and then ride it till you get it up and running. It is EASY to get distracted when learning Internet Marketing... and that will eat your time really really fast while preventing any real progress from taking place!

Good Luck, and holler if you need help! Some great teachers HERE too!

If you want to invest money in a system that works I can recommend the AffiloBlueprint program with Mark Ling.

I made my first money thanks to Mark, the structure of the program is great, he is very helpful and it is 0% scam

I am not posting a link because I am not affiliated with this in any way and I'm sure you will find it if you are interested with a simple google search

If you are looking for some "magic button" that will start making money for you... forget it.
Don't buy anything! There is no such program.

Read, learn the basics, start with small steps. Build.

This is the reason why people get into scams, because their common sense is absolutely numb, and they are literally waiting for the next "magic button" to create money.

If you are serious about creating a business you need to understand the basics:

1.- The clients are the ones that pays for your stuff (whatever your stuff is)
2.- Clients are constantly looking for answers.
3.- You can scam once, but that client is not going to comeback.
4.- The real money comes from selling several solutions to the same clients.
5.- Don's look for profits, but chashflow.
6.- MOST IMPORTANT: START DOING SOMETHING EVERYDAY towards your business.

      Hope it helps

There isn't any one best system for new marketers. Or rather, any system can be the best. If there were one best system, we'd all use it!!

Pick something - since you want an answer, I'll randomly say domain name flipping. It really doesn't matter. What DOES matter is that you follow through. There's lots of free info about domain name flipping. Heck, here are the basics: buy domain names, sell for a profit.

It's easy to buy a few domain names and then try to sell them. Go ahead. If you make a profit, congratulations. You probably won't. But you have learned a lot - how to buy a domain name, how to list it for sale, how to transfer it, and so on. Then you start tweaking. What domain names sell better than others? Where sales places have the best buyers? Oops, how do I get that buyer to pay me after I've transferred the domain name?

The best way to learn web marketing is by doing it. Don't go nuts finding the best place to start - the best way is the one that you follow through on.

    Welcome and good luck.

Well I'm going to go with a different route as many of the people who posted here (similar to domain flipping) - Website Flipping. You buy a domain + hosting, setup a Wordpress, write/outsource content, and sell it Here (I am new, never used this marketplace)/DP/Flippa, and make money just like that. I churn these sites out like crazy now that I've outsourced and scaled and it's become my full time income. Trust me - people ALWAYS buy sites with good niches and unique content. Since everything is all set up, it sets a nice base for them to continue to develop the site. I rarely go a 24 hr-72 hr auction without getting a single bid. It is quite rare.

I have a free guide in the link in my sig if you need help getting started. Don't be afraid to email me (can't post email address and I don't want to break the rules getting around it) or PM me on here.

  • wow thanks for all of the insightful replies. And no, i'm not looking for that "Magic Button" just some useful insight/guidance to help push me in the right direction. Website flipping is something i have never heard of and kinda interests me. gonna check out your free guide Brad, thanks! I have decided to start with amazon affiliating. A lot of advice i have read says to start with a niche you are knowledgeable with. i have a couple ideas but they are probably already saturated.. gonna give it a try anyways.

@David i was actually watching Pulse (highly recommended for every Floyd fan if you haven't seen it already) when i was setting up my profile. Learning to Fly came on and seemed like the perfect song to go along with what i am trying to accomplish and going through with this IM stuff, particularly the lyrics: "a soul in tension that's learning to fly, condition grounded but determined to try"

As suggested by all the previous responses, there is no "best program" for anything... anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to part you from your money.

I would start with a Wordpress blog on a topic from a market which you know something about... from a hobby or previous work experience. I use the word market intentionally because you do want to be able to sell things to your readers. Look for affiliate programs with products or service to sell in that market.

Stay away from Internet Marketing and make-money-online when starting out. When you actually learn to make money online, you can venture back into these niches if you want to, speaking from a position of experience and success.

Also, start capturing leads (names and email addresses) through opt-ins from day one. Use Aweber or a similar service. Your list will become a major asset for you in time.

Remember that you will need to give people good value in exchange for opting in to your list. That could be an insightful report which you write about what you know in the market you choose.

Then focus your time on learning all the traffic generating strategies you can find, and on copywriting.

      Good luck!

I have heard success stories and horror stories. What I always suggest is read a few blogs, scour this forum and the other WF, and then get your feet wet. I am an instant gratification kind of guy so I always suggest start by setting aside a budget you are willing to invest into your education. Choose a traffic source (i suggest going with a social network like facebook or plenty of fish). Do your research on these platforms. Learn where you can advertise on there, creatives types and dimensions(text ads, display ads, ect), whether they use cpc, cpm, cpa, ect, and all the targeting options they allow. Create a couple test accts on the platform with different demographic informations(male/female, age, interests ect) and spend sometime looking at the ads for all the demos. log what you see and on what accts. Pretty much you want to arm yourself with all this data b4 you spend a single cent. With that data you can now decide on what you want to begin promoting. Now you are ready to join a CPA network. Explain to your affiliate manager what you want to accomplish. What your plans are.
You are now ready to use that education budget.
check out affbuzz.com its a great source to find many internet marketing blogs.

I recently got my nephew started. Steered him towards article marketing.

There are tons of viable systems out there. But with article marketing, even if it's not the most effective, efficient thing in the world...

...You can be a full-blown, honest-to-God, committed affiliate marketer with a link out there generating cash for you about half an hour from now.

...You can start to get a feel for what it's like to generate content...and specifically content that presells.

...You don't have to worry too much about what is and what isn't a viable market to "launch" into, since the launching has already been done for you. Pick a topic you already have passion for, find a relevant affiliate product, and you're on the way.

...I think the #1 most important factor to your future success is starting now. Not planning and then doing something about it. Not asking questions, learning, and then deciding where your time is best spent. Action. Starting now. And there's no better way, since the learning curve is zero for AM. Do a few, see a little success, and figure out how you're going to specialize in your downtime.

...You don't need to spend any money learning a system, since there are a number of really good, perfectly effective, short-but-sweet, FREE guides online.

You are so right, but as a total noob I imagine most people get overwhelmed with all the information trown at them and one good place to start can save so much time and frustration, don't you think?
