Are you allowed to create a membership site or prodct about a brand?

Hi Gang

Obviously you can create a product about kniting, or gaming in general, or dating etc...but what if you wanted to create a membership site about a specific thing / brand, such as a World of Warcraft membership site (or product), or an Iron Maiden Membership site...or whatever. Any ideas?

    Depends on the brand...

    If you were talking Sony, Disney or JK Rowlings, they would sue you...

    WOW is unknown how they would react...

    Iron Maiden, unknown...

    I know someone who made one for Tommy Chong, but he only agreed to leave it alone, if she went on his payroll... She did... She has been his webmaster for years...

      There are tonnes of WoW sites around for people promoting products on ClickBank etc, none of which i've seen taken down.

      I guess it just depends on the scale of your site and how successful you are with it. If you are making a tonne of money off someone elses brand they've worked hard to build, you wouldn't expect them to be happy would you?

      Saying that I don't think it would be too much of an issue

    Ok, thanks, so from your opinion, it seems like something to steer clear of? I'm wondering how the guys get on who create stuff for WOW at Clickbank? Maybe they pay a commision or something?
