Question about craigslist

I posted something on Craigs list and I noticed I got a few phone calls the first day but then the calls sizzled out. Im assuming this is because they place your ad where everyone can see it then it slowly makes its way down the list?

If this is true, how can I get it back on top?

Delete the ad and make a new one? Any ideas?

I assume you would just have to make fresh ads, i'm assuming craigslist is like a classified ads sort of site?

You could always try and find some auto posting software online maybe?

You have to write a new ad. CL won't let you repost the
same ad, usually, and they cache recently deleted ads
and check new ads against them.

You can repost, but use a different headline and body
copy. You can pull HTML from your server and serve
up picture ads, too. The images aren't screened much
or at all by Craigslist so you can make an image of
your ad copy and just run the same image ad but with
a new headline every time. Add some keywords at the
    bottom to mix it up.

Loren, thanks for the awesome tips. Should I delete the old ad?

Not worth deleting, as Loren points out CL cache deleted ads so just make a new one...

Don't delete. Sometimes your CL listing will show up high in the organic listings in google.

This depends on the niche of course. I used to have CL adds in Google within 10 minutes and they would last for well after CL auto deleted my add after 30 days.

I wouldn't. You won't get any benefit by deleting them. You have
to wait awhile before the cache expires, but it varies from
city to city. In some it seems to last as long as 60 days while
in others it's gone in 7.

After the cache expires you can run the same exact ad again.

It gets a little goofy - but you could create 60 ads and post one
a day and then start over from the first one again. Actually
your CL account will let you just repost them after they expire.

How far this type of marketing pushes the TOS is open to
question, but if you're just doing it in one city/region (1
CL site) you should be ok. You'll set off flags if you try to
start running ads in a lot of cities. CL has really clamped
down on that sort of thing. You can use it to promote your
local business all you want. That's what it's for.

Just change it up a bit and post a new add but don't do it more than three times in three days with the same account or IP.

According to CL TOS you can re-post your ad after 48 hours. What I do is make two ads that are different enough from each other to pass CL filters.

Then I post one the 1st day and the other one the 2nd day. Then on day 3 simply delete the first ad and immediately re-post it.

You can also make 2 or 3 sets of these ads. Each set needs to be different enough from the others to pass CL filters. Then you can post in the morning, middle of day, and evening. This will give you more exposure.

Three sets will keep 3 ads running each day for you.

This strategy has worked for me.
