Anyone managing their own affiliate program?

I have quite a few products developed and out there, all on their own sites etc. I am also using several affiliate networks to manage sales.

As part of the "streamlining" of my online activities I am considering moving all my products into my own affiliate scheme, and managing the sales and affiliate side all in one place. I was considering using "JEM" from JRox.com to achieve this as it can sell virtual products and manage affiliates and their downlines.

Has anyone else turned away from clickbank etc and managed their products themselves, and is it a good idea?

    I actually went the other way - from idevaffiliate to clickbank. I started getting some real sales volume through my affiliates and the hassle factor was too high so I switched to CB. They look after the programme, there are affiliates ready to go and it's easy to use when combining viral reports, aweber lists etc

    You wouldnt have to move away from clickbank - another option could be to streamline everything under one clickbank account. This might upset existing affiliates a little as their hops stop working and need to change their links, but essentially they would have to do so if you moved to a new external system anyway (and might be less likely to stick with you if they have to create a new account with you seperately etc).

    The way you would do this is to instead of having multiple accounts you would have multiple products all on the same account - then you setup a master affiliate page for all of your products with the ability to generate links to the different products you offer - this would still work even though it is across multiple sites, and it would mean you can centralize a lot of the management in the same way. Also offers the advantage of centralizing your affiliate database and being able to add new products easily, announce them to your whole affiliate list, and also giving you a higher gravity figure as all your gravity would become combined into one account.

    I used to manage my own affiliate programme when I had my Photoshop site. It ran under Post Affiliate Pro, which is a very good software for this purpose.

    I wouldn't run my own affiliate programme again, though. Frankly, it's just too much hassle. It's much easier to let people like ClickBank, Pay Dot Com, CJ etc. handle all the tracking and payments.

    I have run an offline affiliate program of my own. I like it better because your affiliates are out of the box, not usually affiliated with others, and they give alot more focus to your product; provided that you have created an opportunity that truly motivates them.

    yes, I agree John, you can get much more attention from affiliates, if you have them in your own affiliate program.
    And I don't say that because we develop PAP, but because I'm also affiliate manager of our own affiliate program.
