Do SE Spiders Scan PDF ebooks (the text in them)? + Email addresses

by entry 3 replies
Can the Seo index spiders scan the PDF and read-scan my Email address (which is in it)?

or it will the email address be invisible to SEO index spiders?

is is in a clickable link version

Spiders scan webpages, and if they get hold of Email addresses, they can cause spam to be send in them (or similar), which is why people use optin question forms.

If i have my email address in a PDF, and the PDF is distributed virallay wide..... then can the Seo spiders scan the PDF and then scan the Email address in it?

or it will be invisible to SEO index spiders?

  • Yes, they can.

If it's password protected, I don't believe so. (Technically speaking it's possible to break the protection, several companies have, but I don't believe search engines would do that).

Absolutely... If the search spiders can read ordinary text, they can also read email addresses in the text...

The only thing that may possibly stop them is a password-protected pdf...

Yes. they read it exactly as they would html. As you can see from all pdf you can find in the serps. Google serves them up as pdfs or as html previe for their users.
