I don't buy fans, I buy invites and have been doing so successfully for quite some time now. Invites simply get them to the page, they'll only "like" your page if they are interested in your page.

I thought the main idea of using FB for any marketing thing is that it's probably the most viral social media? Thus people share what they like and they can't possibly like something they don't understand...?

Buying fans means you're getting fake accounts to "like" your page(s).

While buying invites means you're getting responsive people. But the conversion rates can be really low. Like I once had a guy invite his 5k friends to my page and I only got 25 fans!

Bottom line: If you want that viral effect by having lots of fans instantly and your business model with that specific facebook "asset" is not long term, you should try buying fans. I can confirm that the "Likes" increase exponentially. The more you have, the more you get!

On the other hand, if you have a page that represents your real business - never ever buy fans.

But if you bought those invites on Fiverr, then your acquisition cost is 20 cents per fan. Assuming these are REAL fans, then that's not a bad cost to acquire.

Personally, I've never had less than about 50 new "likes" from any invites I've bought on Fiverr, but I also only use providers who have good, positive feedback. So that lowers my cost to acquire down to 10 cents even in the worst case.

Webfighter, we're on the same page. Usually, when buying invites (not fans), I can get a fan page up to about 1,500 real fans in less than 30 days. 1500 seems to be the tipping point, after that no more purchases of invites are necessary, as the fans increase by 2-3% following each posting or update to the fan page -- which means I can double the fan base in 30 days or so, reducing the cost to acquire to just a few pennies. 30 more days, and I'm rapidly approaching one cent per.

Hey Steve,

Yeah, that was Fiverr - no prize for guessing.

Also, as I said above, it really drills down to your business model. I still don't have a website to show my pals.

It really is embarrassing by the way. I tell them I make money off internet, they ask how. And the simplest answer I can give them is "I make websites, promote them and make money off them". But then, all I can show them is some crazy video/pic with a cpa gateway on it lol.

Anyways, back to topic - buying fans can prove out to be good if you don't mind a bunch of random people like your page for the sake of it. Plus, you risk loosing publishing rights to your page if it shows some "unusual behavior".

Even though the conversion rate from your invites was only 1/2% (if my arithmetic is right), that seems to me to be okay, especially if your page content is such that those 25 were really interested in your niche. If you bought the invites on fiverr, and the theory holds true that each name is worth $1 a month, that means you could make a 500% ROI, and that's in the first month alone!

i dont want to buy likes...I have a very tight niche (music wise) so I dont need or want people who are into one music type when mine is competly something they may not like and then not purchase. I dont see on Facebook where you can ask people to like unless there already your friend (which I done as well)

I have been working FB for a few months now and I know what works and what doesn't. I have found that buying fans is definitely worthwhile and if people see that there are already a lot of fans they are more likely to join than if there are only a small number. The whole point of using FB is that it's viral so the more likes the better!

I agree and thats why I just took one of my local mortgage clients fanpage from 11 fans to over 1,000 fans in just 10 days! They are juiced now!

It just gives them more credibility to the business when a prospect goes to their site and sees the amount of fans they have.

The #1 positive for buying FB fans is the perception that you are more popular than you really are which in turn will make you more appealing for real potential fans. I personally prefer getting real fans without buying fakes.

Experienced marketers know that you need to be a little established before really interested people come in.

Take forums. Have you ever gone to a forum about something you like but you didn't sign up because there were only a handful of members and messages?

  I would not recommend buying fans. There are sites where you can buy FB accounts, one thousand at a time, for a few dollars. I suspect that when you buy guaranteed fans, that's what you're buying -- someone using multiple accounts liking your page over and over again with their bogus accounts.
  
  Instead, I recommend buying INVITES. There are plenty of sources, Fiverr being one of them. Don't buy fans, buy invites, and require screenshots as proof that they invited legitimate friends to view your page. Read all of the Fiverr offers carefully, and choose someone who does invites that has a very high satisfaction rating.
  
  While using invites instead of fans turns out to be more expensive per "like" than guaranteed fans, at least the real people who are invited to the page will decide for themselves whether or not they want to "like" it. That means they are far more targeted to your page than guaranteed fans.
  
  The conversion rate on offers I've made to those who have "liked" a fan page through the purchase of invites has been very good.

I've not tried buying likes and fans in facebook. But judging from it, it will help your page increase authority which would inturn entice people to join it too. Human likes to be 'in' something popular.

The only reason I see to buy "likes' for your fanpage is so you can get 25 likes which is what you need in order to get your own url. As soon as you get 25 likes, go to facebook.com/username and you can sign up for a username of choice and brand yourself. You can buy them at fiverr.com

I started a FB page called Traffic Generation club on the Sept 4th. Spent $5 on fiverr and within two days had over 2000 fans. I then stuck an autoresponder on there and have converted fairly well. Plus the likes keep coming in.

i'd like to chime in here based on my business, that when you buy "fans" that you are acutally, as far as my operation goes, buying a lot of invites to real fans in our network and then they decide if they want to be a fan or not. as far as i've ever heard, like me, when you buy fans, you are buying invites. it's a numbers game. a certain number of those invites will genearlly convert to fans. now i can't speak for everyone out there. i've seen people selling fans that are ultra targeted, much better than my country targeting. but i also know in the past when i bought them, there were a lot of fake accounts, which is why i decided to go into it myself. i would say use some caution if you want to buy fans. all of my work is done manually, but as far as i can tell the more bots or scripts that are involved, the better chance of your page getting banned.

A good idea would be to pay other people with huge friends lists or big fan pages to put a link to your fan page on their status or wall. If you use a place like fiverr, you could actually get a lot of fans for little money.

Buying fan page status updates or likes is a great way of building up your pages popularity and if it's the right kind of page then it also can help the possibility it has to go viral. Ebay is a great place to go to buy fan invites etc or off blackhat marketers (if I am aloud to mention that here) they have a number of tools they use to capture specific fans into their pages and profile to market various other pages to.

Iv outlined a strategy a mate of mine used to bring in 30k in a month from his viral facebook fan page at Network Quake Blueprint.

I think the effectiveness of buying fans etc really comes down to what kind of page you own, how responsive your market is, how it lends itself to the social sphere and the quality of invites/likes you buy. Yea sure there are some invites that will be sent out to fakes however the whole point of creating fake profiles for those who do it is to get access to real people so chances are you will find some success in using this kind of strategy.

I create what I call "feeder pages" based on a Geo location or topic of the Fan Page I want to build a targeted following for. For example, I created 365 things to do in San Diego. I take that Fan Page that people love to join and share on and take them to my San Diego Offline Clients. Another is a Fashion Hand Bag client, created a page, 10,000 women who like hand bags and then drive them to my clients page.
This work better then buying fans, you do need to update it daily and keep fresh content.

Really have no idea how people that are trying to make money have such a hard time grasping the fact that giving their fan pages more exposure is a good thing. When someone likes your page all of their friends see it, it goes on profile and stays there until they dislike it. It is not about spending money to instantly get that money back, it is about getting your page out there and letting people see it. The more fans you have, good or bad it will attract more real customers that are interested in whatever you are offering. There are even people who do invites that can get as targeted as major cities, and age brackets.

I met a guy at our local Glazer Kennedy Insider's Circle meeting who owns a successful business, and said he would be delighted to get 1000 new fans for $100, even if they weren't targeted, just for the reason a couple of you mentioned: the perception of visitors that make an initial judgment of any fanpage based on the number of "likes" you already have.

I didn't mention to him that I can buy them for $5-maybe there is some way to profit from my "insider" knowledge...hmmm, let me think on that for a while...

It will boost numbers, but will those numbers lead to conversions?

You'll get more genuine interest from people who want to know about that field. To have 5000 "fans" who won't ever check your page is useless. 500 fans who consider you helpful and relevant in your field are much more likely to follow your links and ultimately buy.

Here's what I tell my clients who go the Fiverr route... someone is more likely to "fan" you if they see a large group who has already joined. Sure, half of them may have strange names or crazy profile pics, but FB only shows a small handfull at random.

I know that "buying" sounds like a bad idea.. Yet, I believe that I if you can find a service that can target then you are in a good position. With Facebook, you can make it to where if you buy a little bit, and you set it off correctly. It can take a mind of its own. i have helped many of my associates create this funnel with ease.

Suggestions:
Stay away from the anywhere in the world likes and and fans.
Try to find targeted people (yes, they might cost more than you might bargain for but heck, it's targeted)
For the love of cheetos, don't buy a large bulk.. 5,000-7,000 should set you viral.

I only buy Facebook fans for instant credibility for the prospects I advertise to in my ads. In the long run I think it might hurt my edgerank scores because most of the purchased fans are unresponsive to my posts.

Send traffic to your fan page BUT make sure you get them onto a LIST as soon as possible. Possibly as soon as the visitor gets to the page. Have them click "like" to see the content( special video or something of value ).

Then offer them an ethical bribe( special report, 2nd video or a PLR report ) for a name and email address.

A bunch of untargeted fans (Considering you purchased 'real people' and not some fake fans) will help you how? Just like someone stated earlier, go with invites or drop it as a whole.

There are more ways to generate traffic, and cost less time as well. PPC for example, you could also go for facebook ads with the PPV function.

I've tested it out on my sites and fanpages (test, test, test always) and now I swear by it. It doesn't have much SEO impact on website as far as SERP are concerned, but...

I always buy a few FB likes and shares to show "social proof", when people see that others are interested then THEY become more interested. So I do it just to get the ball rolling and then leave it be. I've seen a big difference when I've done so, people are sheep.

Well, you know, almost 99% always clear when someone buys a fan on facebook, although it can be avoided, because There are several indicators to track it. In my opinion sdes all depends on your goals, from groups, from your understanding of what you do.

In addition you can almost always buy only fake users and fake likes. But your goal - is to create a community, I advise you to read the book "The effect of a dragonfly," it describes a process of engagement. A way to reach your audience in a group - communicate about a similar things and help people, your audience should receive from you the answers to their questions. That's it.

My opinion is probably slightly biased regarding that i sell facebook fans myself. To be honest it depends on a number of things whether or not you should buy fans for your page.

One of the most important ones is that you choose the right site to buy from, a lot of fan sellers offer clones of accounts just to bunk up the number of fans. We however are one of a few websites that sell 100% real fans. We do this by inviting people from a large network to your page, so its completely there choice if they want to like your page. This means they will most likely actually be interested in your page.

Another important thing is to decide what are the fans for, most peoples general reasons are some of these:

- "Social Proof" or Credibility for your Page/Company
- To turn their page into a business (Sell advertising etc.)
- Because we invite real people, all their friends get alerted, meaning you gain even MORE fans.

The majority of my customers have been more than happy with the service so far. But its about asking yourself if you really need the fans/likes or not.

buying traffic is NOT like buying fb likes and twitter followers..

let me explain why... when you buy traffic, it becomes redundant after the traffic has visited your site.. because there is nothing to show for it to other web users.. unless you have a stat counter but honestly which website has a stat counter nowadays

but when you buy likes and followers.... the "popularity" of you site still remains... i.e. to say.. from 1 like < mmmm not very popular.. to 12542 likes < wow so many people like this ... it must be good... same goes for twitter..

so yes, i'd say you gain something, brand trust and loyalty is built much faster...

however, please don't buy 10000 fb likes.. personally when i see 10000 fb likes on an unknown page i think "bought likes"...

but when i see 400.. i think mmmmmm real people liking this page.. might just be me though..

anyway on a different topic... i don't think bought traffic to websites work.. i use to be a blackhat hacker.. targeted traffic, paid traffic, etc are all operated from botnets which will add no value to your website whatsoever.. PPC/adwords/etc yes, but paid traffic from suppliers no.

i have a botnet with 2,000,000 ppl. how easy would it be to set up a paid traffic business? lol.

I've bought both facebook fans and twitter followers, because I felt that users of my site would be more likely to sign up for both if I already appeared to be popular and worthwhile to follow.

And, perhaps, to inflate my ego a bit.

As mentioned, I think its a good to get a start and build a credible page. If I see 2000 people have liked a page versus 200 I'd be more inclined to click like if 2000 are already there. Social proof, thats all what it is.

Depends how you do it or the place you purchase fans/followers from does it.

JohnieT is correct though, a lot of users will look at how many already like a page and think about whether they want to be first but if it has a few hundred/thousand they are far less likely to have those thoughts.

Our business is in this field although we do not sell followers/likes directly, we offer an exchange site for users to to promote themselves with e-dollars (our site specific) they gain by following or liking and you lose them when users follow or like you. So it's essentially free! Ephame

I got 700 fans from a fiverr gig as a test. put them on a page I didn't care about. Brought from a guy in the USA and got Indian fans. Totally not useful to the page I put them on. So I guess it might be possible but you would have to be careful. Still nothing ventured nothing gained and all that.

After all I read here, I think the best strategy for me is to buy Facebook page invites targeted for the countries there my websites operate.
It wouldn´t make sense to get people from India on a website operating in Chile.

I did that once and I got 10,000 real fans in just a few days. But these people have become my fans because of the credits, money or something else, in other words, fans were not targeted. From 10,000 people I get a few likes, no comment, no visits, because these people were not interested in my fan page.

But you should buy from 500 to 1,000 fans, because people then more easily decide to become your fans when they see that you already have some fans.

To get started you just need to hit that 1,000 likes mark after that its easier to keep going.. it just looks better to have a few 1000 so when someone finds your page there is not just 10 likes that person would be less likely to like you site with only 10 likes

I only bought fans from fiverr
when I first built my Fan Page.
You needed I think 25 before you could get
a Vanity Name for your business.
I heard they may not require that soon.
Other than that reason I think it's a bad idea.

Hi,

Sometimes when you've started a new Facebook fan page, and you want some fan numbers to make it look more reputable, then you may wish to consider purchasing some fans. For example, you may feel that when someone visits your Facebook fan page, they are more likely to interact or join if they see 1000 fans instead of 3 fans.

But because purchased fans will never be as loyal as real fans, you should view them as just number builders (that is, just there to make your initial page look better). For that reason, you should source them as cheap as possible.

And you certainly shouldn't hope that purchased fans will interact with the same interest as real fans.

I have several facebook accounts, about 120, yeah used to dabble. But at least 20 have 5,000 friends each, wasnt really that hard getting them either if I remember right. So why not just work it.

for first i think buying fans is good because there are people in this world that is a refrence type so he just follow other guy, if many people like that page than that people will like that too..

after that you should connect with your fans so your fanpage can go viral, give something to them, joke around them, congratz them, praise them so they will like you and if they like you than they will be your happy customer..

I use the free facebook likes exchnage system to get the extra facebook likes.But I do think only targeted fans are helpful to our business.But if you would like to buy more fans, It is also useful to get some real visitor ,even though the rate is low.But the number of the fans is exciting.

Imagine 2 facebook fan page about "Dog training"
the first fan page has 700 fans,
the second fan page has 7 fans,

Which fan page do you think I would join?
Of course is the first fan page.

as a personal trainer i only have 35 likes on my business page, all of whom know me. I do feel like it would look better to have 100+. I know when i go to a business page and they have like 10,15 likes i assume they don't really update their facebook or they don't pay it much attention. You see a lot of likes and you think theres something going on here, everybody likes this, etc...

So i'm considering buying some just for the superficial appearance.

Now does having more and more likes have any impact on your google rankings? Say if i have 35 likes compared to a similar page with 1000 likes, are they going to be ranked higher than me based on that alone, does it hold a lot of weight?

Then also, is this a bannable offense from facebook? Is there anyway they can monitor you purchasing likes?

Because of the latest update to Google's algorithm, it may be better to focus on Google+ if you want to increase rankings in Google. Read about it yourself, they're calling the update "Google Search+".

Well yea, I basically think that buying fans can either be good or bad....all just depends on where you get the fans from, which provider etc.

I may be biased but I tried buying fans, from any fans provider that sit there on google first page. Buying fans I think can only be something useful "if you build somekind of opt-in page ---> giving those fans somekinda bribe (plr, etc, forward them to your list). And sometimes people also buy fans "social proof" to attract the real fans that will join in..... I normally tried fbfansupply.com..they are not on first page, but their customer service I think is A++ so far, also those Usocial, bulkfans, I mostly tried everything. My conclusion you just need to know where which provider you get the fans from, they may be good or may be not

You are right in saying that the followers that you buy aren't going to help you very much. The only thing that they do is add some social proof and maybe more people will like your page as a result.

For the most part, I would say its waste of money. However, there are some situations that it can be helpful as I personally experienced it.

If you have a new site or even an established site where you haven't done any Facebook work on it and just added a "Find us on Facebook" widget or something like that in hopes of getting some fans, it can be helpful to get the ball rolling by buying a few hundred fans.

You may not get any benefit from those bought fans, but it will help you get new fans as most people tend to follow others. So, if your widget says, no fan yet, most people wont even consider becoming a fan, but if they see that you already have a few hundred fans, they may think, Oh well, it must be good that other people are already liking this guy. So, they are more likely to become a fan as well.

As the old saying "follow the herd" - people tend to do what other people do, and it is even more strong when a lot of people do something....

So, if you want to build your social proof, it will be a good idea to organize a "small buy" of fans (ex. 2000 likes) - it will speed up the natural growth of the page...

Most of facebook fans provider , 100 of them must be 70 of them provide bots.
If you really interested on this service, you must be smart and make enough research on the provider.
I think the better way is use exchange fans rather than just purchase fans.
