WP: Blog Posts vs Pages

When it comes to SEO, would it be better to create a new page for every article in WP or just post it as a blog entry. I don't think that it should matter but no the less i was wondering if you all had any say.

There is no general answer that would work for everybody.

It depends on the structure of your blog/site, on the goal you want to achieve, on how your content is organized etc.

However, on a general note you should be aware that Pages are not part of the rss feed of your blog (in case you want your content spread and/or syndicated); Pages don't ping. Pages are for "static" content like About Us, Contact, TOS, Privacy etc.

On the other hand, if you don't plan to update, i.e. to add fresh content to your blog constantly, just want to build an "evergreen" site of 5-10 pages, in that case Pages might work. Although using a blog software for that - seems to be an overkill.

Treat your pages like you would a static page. Leave them for the contact page, about page, static information that you want readily available to your users and won't be changing up.

Setup your categories to put your posts in. An example would be like:

    Hair Dryers
    Hair Curlers
    Hair Spray

Put all your posts about hair dryers in that category, all your content posts about hair curlers in that category and so farth.

I think using blog post will be better if you have a lot of articles (>20-30)
or if you just have 4-5 articles then it will be better using page.
And i don't think using any will effect SEO.

There's a free wp plugin that will allow you to put your posts into pages once there becomes enough to warrant a separate page.

I usually start out with POSTS of relevant topics and assign them a category...once there are a few I create a page and make all the posts appear there.

I'll hunt the plugin for you...

it depends on your WP theme too, sometimes more than a few PAGES break the pretty frames

Alright i was more worried about impact of ranking than anything. And because this is the beginning of a campaign, im not to sure how large it is going to get. So im going with postes becuase it will allow me the most flexibility i believe.

with WP, posts are the Link Juice, but then compiling them into pages makes for a better, fuller platform

Also, you may want to consider how you setup your permalinks.

I go with this permalink structure in the custom options

    /%post_id%/%postname%/

Provided your keywords are in your post title you will get the SEO benefit of this structure. Be careful though if you have already made posts that after the change the structure they still work ok.

      REW72 has a good suggestion. I use /%postname%/.

The idea is to have a good keyword domain name and use good keywords in your posts titles for the search engines.

      Hope this helps.
