Building Backlinks to a WP Blog

Hi, I was thinking about buying directoryvault's service where they submit to 100 blogs for you or the one where they submit to a few hundred regular directories - just to boost some new Wordpress sites I have. One is a cell phone blog, one is a webhosting company and a few others. Will posting to blog directories help more than other directories and is more better than just specific ones related to your theme ?

What's the best source/service for getting links to a wordpress blog - submitting to blog or other directories ?

Thanks.

If these services are not too expensive, why not try them out. Of course, if you have the time, go ahead and do it yourself and see.

You can also try social bookmarking, if you have time it is free and there are many of them out there.
I am not an seo expert but I think submitting to blog directories would be better than submiting to other directories

You can get your blog out here by updating your pinglist, on hosted sites you can update your pinglist, although it uses pingomatic which covers a lot of sites, I like to give a full update on sites that pingomatic doesn't update.

On a non hosted wordpress.com blog, you can't upate the pinglist and have tried, the key is to post as many relevant blog posts that are keyword rich and do these daily and the pinglist will ping those sites that will help in boosting your ranking and people will find your blog.

Also add a sitemap to your blog and this really helps google index all your blog archives/pages.

You can submit our blog to blog carnival, i have used it but many have had success with it, google "blog carnival" and check it out.

Does a crazy pinglist still do anything these days? I thought that was a thing of the past, or so some have proclaimed.
