I just found a ton of my own original content on someone else's blog...with no credits whatsoever.

Talk about feeling ripped off.....after all that hard work.

    You won't believe it -

    I went to Google blog search and typed in a key word as I was looking for relevant blogs.

    About the 5th blog on the page was it - I was reading the content and it sounded very familiar!

    Then I was looking around the rest of the site and found a lot more.

    Couldn't believe it!

      I know what you mean.

      Unfortunately, some top marketers and well-intentioned programmers have inadvertantely made it easy for people to get away with this. There are scripts and plugins that read a feed and re-publish it straight to a blog or other type of website.

      However, there are some ideas and scripts/plugins that may help you curb this behavior:

      You can "monetize" all your posts so that it includes a relevant link to to a product/service that provides more information or one of your other sites. (If they re-publish your material without permission you still might make some money off of it.)

      There are plugins that only publish a small portion of your content and the end user must click a link to get the rest.

      There is a wordpress plugin that inserts copyright information into the feed.

      You can send a DMCA notice to the ISP/host of the infringing site.

      You can notify the adserving company (ie. Google Adsense) of the infringement to hopefully suspend the account if they are making money off of your ideas without permission.

      This might seem redundant, but put a signature at the end of every post. If they are using some type of computer-based program, it will likely re-publish the content in it's entirety. This is especially true of the bigger splogs out there. They are not usually stealing these manually.

      The truth of the matter is that some people are just plain lazy, thoughtless, uninspired and greedy. They may make money for a season, but in the end will end up worse than when they started.

        Yeah it can be very annoying but there are programs that will pull RSS feeds from other peoples blogs and even take newsletters and automatically publish them on their blogs. Really not a great deal you can do about it apart from gritting your teeth and moving on to the next post.
