Hi all,

(jpeg of analytics data, titled 'help1', attadched)

Could you please help interpret this analytics data (3 months worth).

Does the the fact that the they are only getting <2% of their traffic from the search engines mean that that the 'direct traffic' is coming from paid traffic? If not that, where is it coming from?

Also, why does the traffic look so cyclical?, with a peak at the start of the week?

any ideas?

regards,
James.

Looks to me like they are regularly publishing new content or perhaps a newsletter. Or maybe someone else is refererncing their site in a regular newsletter.

My understanding is that "Direct" traffic means that the analytics doesn't detect an inbound link so it assumes the visitor typed it "directly" into the browser. I've seen this happen with Google Analytics from newsletter traffic, especially with newsletters that have a high percentage of subscribers that are using desktop email clients like Outlook. Often webmail (especially Yahoo) will show as being referred from a website not as direct.

The direct traffic could be coming from a variety of
    different sources.

You need to delve deeper into the referring sites to
get a better picture of exactly where the traffic is
    coming from.

Regarding the peaks - do they send out a regular
ezine on that day or something?

    Dedicated to your success,
