Wordpress plugins that don't work together ?

I don't see a definitive list. Maybe we can create one.

The aim is to create a list of plugins that perform different functions on wordpress but yet cannot both be activated at the same time without

Eg

All in One SEO and Simple Facebook Connect.

I tried to activate both today on a new blog and found that If All in One SEO was activated first, then Simple FB connect would not activate.

I don't think that's such an easy list to put together because
the reasons plugins don't work have to do, often, with the
version of WP you are running and whether the plugin version
    is compatible.

That said I discovered recently that Javascript-to-footer doesn't
play nice with A modal popup plugin I was testing in WP 3.01.

I seriously doubt anyone would be able to create such a list - plugins are updated on a regular basis, and by the sheer number of plugins, your talking about numbers in the thousands,,, maybe the tens of thousands.

Developers usually test their plugins with the more popular ones, and makes notes of the issues in the readme.txt file. That is why people should read the instructions before installing any plugins.

There are far too many plugins to do this effectively.

    For example:
Plugin A works with Plugin B, but once you change your theme these plugins no longer work together. Or they no longer work together once you install plugin C...
Plus... plugin A and B might work fine on my server... but not on yours...

Catch my drift? There are too many variables to do this effectively.

You could try to build a list but as someone said before: "there are too many variables".

You can create a list mentioning Wordpress 3.1 using a version from plugin AB and plugin BC, but in the day after, wordpress can be updated, plugin AB can be updated or plugin BC could be updated.

Any of these 3 chances could make them work back together or not.

I was thinking the same thing.

It's similar to computer problems people have. Once you've had a computer for a year or two it's different in millions of ways from everybody's else's computer.

So, when people recommend a generic fix and it doesn't work the recipient of the advice gets confused.

It comes back to the same old chestnut in earnings disclaimers.

"Results may differ . . . blah blah blah."

Some of us have learnt the hard way that, in some situations, there's nothing better than your own research.

It may not end up being the ultimate list, maybe just a heads up list for popular plugins that seem to clash when either activated in the wrong sequence etc.

I just figured it would be useful for those who have numerous blogs

our own plugin follows the guidelines. Variable/function naming conventions and use of the wordpress API are paramount.

You could start a list of plugins that cause problems with popular plugins.

For example plugins that have trouble with all in one seo or akismet.

But as others I said, i think this job is too big really.
