What gets boring/tiresome on Christmas day?

Hi,

I've been modifying the copy for the sales letter on a site I created for 'Christmas games' (Top 50 Wacky Christmas Games) but am having trouble writing about problem areas since I've not celebrated Christmas myself.

Am hoping to hear any thoughts on what can quickly become boring/annoying/tiresome at Christmas?

I'd like to say--" Instead of ___(boring/tiresome Christmas thing)___ you can have fun with these super games.

So any thoughts or insights on what I could fill in the blanks with?

Thank you!
Lakshmi

A partner who hates Christmas and always manages to start a WW3 fight, before going out to friends, who take 'pity' on me having such a kill-joy partner.

    Hi

I suppose it all depends on who might be reading your salespage.

You could appeal to grandparents to buy for the grandchildren - 'remember when you were young - no fancy gadgets...etc in the days when we used to sit with the family and the box of games came out of the sideboard? Well, re-create that feeling of nostalgia and introduce the fun of family games....etc.

'Forget the boring old repeats on the TV this year....'

'Who wants to think about the credit crunch? Forget about the outside world and have oddles of fun with these (name of product) '.

'The turkey was stuffed and now YOU are stuffed - you don't need any energy to sit and play (name of product). You can even nibble on mince pies while you play'.

'Forget the washing up - gets your hands on (name of product)'.

    Best wishes

    Hi Aurora

    You're welcome!

Hope it goes well for you.

It's great when you/I get stuck on something and maybe just one simple hint or idea triggers off a whole load more and gets the imagination working :-)

    Best wishes

    Mary

Picking up all that paper the kids have thrown everywhere as they open their presents.

Make me something that picks up the paper easy (like a pooper scooper for paper, perhaps a claw device that graps the paper).

The most boring/tiresome thing (for me) on Christmas Day is the way the world builds up into a manic frenzy only to... shut down. I know it's only for one day, but by half-past nine in the morning most of us in our house have already had enough and are bored out of our brains and itching to get back to doing our own thing but are too polite to say so. Even the kids have usually started to go off the idea once the presents have been opened and they realize that none of their favourite programs are on the telly.

It's not that we can't do the 'togetherness' thing in our family - we do it often. It's more that we seem incapable of falling into a 'togetherness national shutdown' and would prefer to do it on our own terms while the rest of the world goes on as normal. Thinking about it, the get-together we have a couple of days later is always much more fun, even though it's a tradition of our own that sprang up out of nowhere and everyone else generally considers the festivities to be over.

The fact that for some reason our family insists on forcing 25 adults and children into one 4 bedroom house for 48hrs, during which we have to focus on each other!!!

After a huge amount of food and drink, kids squabbling over presents, either broken or not what they wanted, the Queen's speech and some god awful soap opera (on tv and in the kitchen) it's a brisk walk up a hill in the freezing cold and a hot toddy to top the day off!

      And that's a good Xmas!

      Hi Aurora
Just took a quick look at your sight. Just one week comment. You kind of slip seemlessly from Christmas Eve at the top of the page to Christmas Day about 4 lines after your Dear HFS intro. I guess it's a typo. Hope you don't mind me pointing it out.

For some reason that made me think of the 'Don't mention the war!' thing on Fawlty Towers (British TV series). Then I realised that when it comes to Christmas and relatives, it's much the same thing

Lakshmi, after reading this thread, you're probably SO glad you don't celebrate this one
