How Do You Rank a YouTube Video?

Sounds like you are doing what you should be doing. Here is a thought (although I haven't tried to rank youtube videos before)....

Have you ever thought about creating a ring of internal links within youtube pointing back to your main video?

Dunno if that would be an effective strategy but it has worked for me on content sharing sites.

I've seen several rank well for spot on keyword phrases and local search.

In high competitive niches you may not be able to rank it on it's own - it's that simple.

I do well cross linking between Youtube and my sites. I have a few videos that rank well for both my site and youtube because I generate a ton of traffic for them by putting them in the side bars of my sites and I focus primarily on BRANDING.

I want a person to think of my site when they see any video in the niche.

my methods is like this : title , description , tags flooded with the keyword I want to rank for. Pump some artificial views 100-200 and give some ratings and comments to your video from my other accounts , it works very good for me

Well ExRat pretty much nailed it. Based upon on what your doing with your SEO you should be just fine ranking on page one for google.

But don't forget to make sure your video has your keyword in the title and description as well in youtube. I see so many videos with spammed keywords and tags in their videos and you don't have to go that far to rank highly.

I'm not sure about the ethics of this method, but I will share a quick outline. It may not seem fair to others, but if your serious about ranking and traffic..

First, get your keywords straight. Adwords keyword tool does not provide accurate data for youtube. Use ads.youtube.com/keyword_tool instead to find affective keywords.

Second, focus on quality videos then remix them for quantity. The number is up to you, but I run about 20-50 videos re-edits each. The edit can be as simple as cutting off a few seconds at the end or as complex as shuffling sideshows to create complex algorithm of spinned video content. Upload all of the videos.

Third, make a search for all of your keywords and find the videos with the most views from past month. Select relevance as the search option. Copy all of the video tags that reach over 500 views in a month and shuffle them, then separate them in 500 characters. Use them for all of your own videos.. This is very affective to get both views and rank better than your competitors, since your copying their success.

Forth, the most important step to force your videos to rank well is to stuff some keywords in the description. Add about ~2000 to ~3000 characters worth of words that are related to your video. This can be copied from other videos that are doing well, since all the top guns are doing it you might as well. Youtube does not penalize for this, and most users are already use to this method and accept it as standard.

Lastly, make sure to 'Like' all of your videos with multiple accounts. This will give you that extra push to rank even better and let users have a positive mentality from first glance at your video.

All of this can be very time consuming if done manually, but it will be well worth it. I like to create my own macros that cover about 80% of the labor

That's about all there is to it, if you follow all that you shouldn't need any external links such as bookmarks, profile links, or any blogs..

1. Submit to Youtube and other major sites (see below). Each submission has a unique TITLE and description but every description starts with the money site url.

Go here and create a feed for your products to get them listed.

Bookmark all videos and ping all bookmarks. Then bookmark the Youtube and Metacafe submissions again. Then get 5 400 word articels written and link to these two video sites. Then get 5 more articles and link to the previous articles using the same anchor text. Submit RSS of all articles to the aggregators/ Bookmark and ping all articles.

Embed the Youtube video on your site in two places. One will use the Youtube embed (Create a separate direct link with anchor text on that page to the actual Youtube URL), the other will use the actual file and stream from your hosting account from somewhere like /videos/nameofvideo.mov. Optimize these page for your KW. You can create a simple Google video sitemap and submit to the Goog as well.

Go back to the second set of article and use one of the anchor text links in bio box and link to the pages on your site what have the video.

Wait 2-3 weeks for results. If no one else is providing video content for these terms, you should come out on top.

I have a youtube video which has 1 backlink, no embeds anywhere but has got 86 likes and 10 dislikes. And it ranks no.4 for a keyword which has around 125,000,000+ results.

There is no formula for ranking youtube videos. Some methods work but never always work. So it is just a numbers game.

Also try embedding it in a blog with relevant content. It tends to rank faster.
