Small Time IM Opportunities

I'm really not interested in spending gobs of time in IM. I also don't mind if I don't make tons of money. I'm already making on average a couple hundred a month online with Ebay and spend maybe an hour/month but would like to quadruple that ($800/mo). It seems like I get an e-mail every week that says: "make $2,012.32 every week in just 20 minutes a day." Sure, after you spend countless thousands of hours and dollars setting up and building the business. I'm sick of even looking at these offers because most of them are bs.

What I'm looking for is a business that is quick and easy to setup and manage, proven to make money but maybe doesn't have huge potential. I don't mind investing time and money but even 16 hours per week would be pushing it.

Are there any opportunities out there like this?

I hate to mention the obvious - but if an hour a month gets $200 - wouldn't 4 hours get $800? If you could ramp up what you do on ebay that would be easier than learning something new that would take more hours.

Thanks but if I could just invest more hours on Ebay and make $200 for each one, I wouldn't be on this forum. The product I make my money on has a small market and the supplier let me price it how I want which is extremely rare in that market. I guess I could search for suppliers of other products that would agree to my pricing.

Do you have any marketable skills? Were you a secretary or a writer in your "day job"? One good way to get started in IM is to hang around forums like this one, see which skills people are clamoring for and start offering those skills. You won't make a million bucks in two weeks, but you may be able to make enough to pay the light bill.

Agreed ^ Utilize what you have and add more time & effort into it. Would probably increase your $xxx amount in theory.

Possibly check out some WSO for smaller IM business opportunities.

    Hi,

Besides what Kay Said, you could teach people in your area how to do the same as you do and or you could take other peoples items on consignment and sell them for a commission.

It's great to hear that there are people with critical thinking.

I can offer two solutions for your problem:

    a) EARN AN EXTRA $700/day for 20 minutes of work - a WSO, bought it and it's quite simple.

    b) Read this Worksheet.

Write an ebook on how you make that 200 a week and sell it as a WSO. Other people do it, why can't you?

Good idea but I'm not sure it would fly for two reasons:

First of all, I make $200/month not per week. Also the ebook would be about 1/2 page long. I lucked out and found a supplier that lets me price their product however I want so I have a huge competetive advantage. This is very rare in that particular market.

If you spend a lot of time selling products on eBay, then presumably you have some level of knowledge about selling physical items, including what characteristics make them most attractive to buyers, what products sell for the most money, etc.

Why not create blogs around some of these items that promote Amazon Affiliate offers for the same products you sell on eBay?

Well, thanks but no I don't spend a lot of time with Ebay. As I said in my post, I only spend an hour a month. And I'm really not expert enough about even the one product I sell to start blogging. One of my pet peeves is reading blogs where people try to come across as experts when they really aren't even close so I'm not going to pretend.

My main gig is writing and performing guitar and piano music but I'm having a hard time coming up with related ideas to market online. I had an idea for songwriting software but r&d costs are prohibitive. I guess I'll keep brainstorming with music ideas.

I have good business experience and skills but my main experience is in retail and I wouldn't dream of going back to brick and mortar.

Unfortunately just about everything in IM takes time. Even if it is just time to learn a new way to make money, it will take time. Most people want to make money without effort. That is why you receive so many emails offering to show you how to make money with no effort. Imagine seeing an email that said, "Spend hundreds of hours setting up a residual income." How enticed would you be to purchase whatever they were selling.

I know that this isn't what you want to hear, but if you invested your sixteen hours into a job you would probably make more money. Minimum wage is at least $7 an hour, more in some parts of the country. $7 an hour X 16 hours a week is $112. In a month that is $448. Of course that is if you found the lowest paying job possible. Even McDonald's pays $10 an hour. You would have to work 4 more hours a week than you want but that would be $200 a week, or $800 a month. Which is what you are wanting to make anyways.

If you really want to make money online I suggest that you put that time into reading this forum. Just about everything that I do is working towards residual income. There are an innumerable amount of ways to do this. Just read until you find something that interests you. Then make sure that you put enough effort into it to give it a chance.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I started selling on Ebay in about an hour. I make approx. $200/mo with very little effort and time. I just read a wso in which some people are making $500/day right away investing very little time in setup. I also remember reading about a no brainer product Jack Mize has that was/is generating people quick money. They're not making a fortune but they also didn't spend months and thousands of dollars setting up a business. None of these apparently produce residual and maybe aren't good long term business strategies but there are obviously plenty of ways to make some money fairly quickly without a lot of investment.

My main business is writing and performing guitar and piano music. I've been my own boss for about 10 years and am not interested in getting a job even if it does pay more than I can make online.

Well we are in the same boat. I am not at all interested in a "job" either.

Why don't you market your guitar and piano music. You could create a website and sell your music online. Have it set up to automatically download when a customer purchases something.

You could create a book with your music and sell it as a book on Amazon as a physical book, or an ebook for the Kindle.

You could create a book detailing how you have managed to make a living selling music for the last 10 years. In addition to the above mentioned ways to sell it, you could sell it on Clickbank. That way others can market your product for you.

I haven't made my living selling music for the last 10 years. I've made my living with other businesses...mainly retail but I'm not interested in putting much time in anything related to retail.

I'm just now finishing building my own house with my own two hands (my book is about half finished) and unfortunately went way over budget and just about busted the bank.

The music business is new since getting out of retail. I'm in the process of recording my music professionally myself but the learning curve is steep and it may take me a year before I have a marketable product. Relying solely on gigs is tough. So, I need something to survive on til I can get my music business cranking.

Most of my projects are big ones that require substantial investment before any returns. It would be nice to find something on the side a little quicker and easier. Plus given the state of the economy, I don't want to put all my eggs in the music basket so I'm looking for multiple streams, especially quick and easy ones

Why not try making money with PLR?

High quality PLR packages can be simple to make money from, they are basically "businesses in a box" and are ready to start promoting with, harness some traffic and you can make lots of money with high quality PLR.

Definitely worth trying...if you need any help give me a shout.

Im so sick of those emails too, I got one yesterday saying...

"make $239,988 every month!"... as soon as I saw that I deleted it, and didnt even look at it because it is bs.

Now if it said.. "see how I make $1,000-$5,000 a month online".. maybe I'd look at it because it more realistic.

If someone gonna send out emails on their product they need to make the sales pitch actually believable. The more realistic it sounds the better chance I think you will make a sale.

Totally with you sportsfan. They lose credibility immediately when its unbelievable. Who is going to believe that $12,345.67/mo. bs? Are people really that stupid? Like you said between $1K & $5K, sure!

Thanks Willy. Can I ask what the biggest challenges with PLR are? Finding a good niche and then a good product maybe?

        Yeah, good questions.

I would definitely say finding a good niche is difficult however if you're purchasing high quality PLR the good niche should of already been highlighted. In my opinion it is up to the PLR seller/creator to research the high demand, profitable market for their customers.

As for your second question, finding a good product can be extremely difficult however there are a couple of real golden nuggets for high quality PLR, one of them being in my signature (yes, my own...but why not?).

Others, well you can find them lurking in the WSO section of this forum, not seen so many over the past couple of weeks though.

Any other questions fire them my way.
